It makes more sense for Dante Exum to re-debut at home against Dallas on Saturday rather than on the road on Friday.

For those on Exum Island eagerly awaiting return of its namesake, they’ll have to wait at least a game longer. Dante Exum will be held out of tomorrow’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder according to Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune.

Dante Exum did not practice today, as he’s getting his re-evaluation done at the same time.

Regarding future Exum re-evaluation dates, Jazz PR says “The medical staff is still reviewing the results of today’s re-evaluation, we should have more information tomorrow.” Just knew he was out vs. OKC.

It has been six weeks since Dante Exum went down with an ankle injury caused by stepping on a teammate’s foot coming off of a screen. Dante Exum has been seen practicing with the team and Utah most likely wants to make sure his return has the most favorable conditions for a successful re-launch. Returning on the road against a formidable OKC Thunder team probably isn’t the best game for Exum to return and find his rhythm again.

However, the Utah Jazz return the day after to play the Dallas Mavericks at home on the second night of that back to back. That would be the perfect game to unleash a healthy Exum. It’s in Salt Lake with all the training staff, equipment, and services to be at the ready for proper recovery or in the event something goes awry. He’s not having to face one of the league’s best defenses. It’s a good day to do it. Exum would then have four days in between Saturday and Wednesday to get ready for the next game against the LA Clippers which is also at home.

It does appear that Exum’s return is nigh. We can probably expect the 6’6 athletic guard back on the court within the week or even weekend.
