We unloaded Boozer, Korver and Matthews.....pick up Jefferson, Raja and Heyward!
Exactly how much money did we save?

I did not get it. Was saving money our franchise's goal, entering this year's FA ? I think many of us expected them to take a step back, let some of its important players go and free up salary cap in order to be active in following FA periods. Miller family showed they are determined to put a competitive team on the court and they certainly did not hesitate to be a luxury-tax payer. That means something to me.

Let's see

Boozer 80M
Korver 15M
Mathews 34M

AL 43M
Raja 10M
Hayward 6-10M?

So 56-60M depending on Haywards contract.

But what they really gained is a ton of flexibility for the future while also getting more talent overall.

Agree. Also they got younger overall. Raja is older but he isn't a main cog or a big commitment.

I don't have the numbers to back this up, but Locke said the Jazz will save $11 million for this upcoming year comparing the three outgoing and the three incoming.

Boozer 5 yrs $76 million
Matthews 5 yrs $34 million
Korver 3 yrs $15 million

Jefferson 3 yrs $42 million
Bell 3 yrs $10 million (assuming around a $3 million annual salary)
Hayward 3 yrs $7.6 million (3rd&4th yrs are TO-just used first 3 yrs to compare to Korver's contract)

So basically, for the next 3 years we're saving about $5-6 million annually on the Matthews/Korver vs. Hayward/Bell tradeoff (considering we're over the luxury-tax you could count it as double) although Jefferson/Boozer is pretty close to a wash. After that though, we'll be saving all the money on the backend of Boozer's contract when his salary is upwards of $16 million, plus the extra 3 yrs Matthews has at over $17 million. Bell is obvi older than Matthews, but Hayward is younger than Korver, plus we could cut Hayward loose after 2 years or retain his rights after 4 years.

you can not really compare AJ 43 mill to Boozer's 80 mill because of length. AJ is about 13 mill this year and Boozer about 15 Mill this year so we saved about 2 Mill per year and about 9 mill over 3 years plus flexibility after 3

Korver 15M for 3 years and Haywards is about 1.5 mill this year and 6 Mill over 3 saves 3.5 this year and about 9 mill total

Mathews 34M 6 mill this year vs 3mill and 10M for bell saves 3 mill this year and about 9 mill over 3 years plus flexibility after 3

I see about 8.5 mill saved this year while improving the team plus about 27 mill saved over three years. If the new CBA comes in with lower salaries the savings could be even bigger because we are not locked into grandfathered contracts in years 4 and 5

The exact numbers aren't out yet but Boozer's first-year salary was expected to be in the $13 million range, and escelate slightly higher but generally in a similar fashion to Jefferson's ($13-$14-$15 mil) give or take a million. The difference is the last 3 years of Boozer's contract the numbers escelate to over $16 and $17 million.

What difference does it make?...they all make too much money anyway!....We should just hold open tryouts at the Salt Lake YMCA...and make them ride buses to games....and wash their own uniforms...and serve peanut butter and jelly in the training room...and if they don't like it....they can go make more money working at the post office!

jailhouse tats.

Saw this guy on "Lock Up" last night at about 3 am. Frightening.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I think he was from Utah. Or Alaska. One of the two.

We certainly lost tats, but AJ is much closer to corn rows than Boozer.

Hayward and Korver are pretty much a wash. Both could have corn rows in a few hours of work.

...probably what the owners will ask for and possibly get....with this next CBA!!!

...our goal is always to improve the team AND reduce payroll, while contending for a title! We did all of that this off season! Money and contracts are a big part of improving the team and contending, don't ya think? Teams that spend wisely reap benefits. Teams that spend like drunkin sailors (and add jail house tats!) do poorly!!!

Well, CJ, its kinda the same damn thang, eh? On leave, most drunked-up sailors spend a ton of money gittin jailhouse tats, ya know?

This, right here, is the mentee speaking to the mentor... in a sense. Like Stephen Colbert to Bill O'Reiley ... which works descriptively but not actually... since Hopper is a hack... and I can't believe he is still slinging this phony junk.

You may consider dropping some commas and apostrophes every now and then (and you definitely can't use the hyphen appropriately (as you do above)). Also pick up a copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin or a book by Donald Harrington. These are suggestions to make yourself less amateur in these absolutely hilarious antics.
