The *OFFICIAL* Russia Is About To Invade Ukraine Thread

Trump also thinks it's fine if Russia invades any country behind on their bills.

I find that this mentality destroys souls.

1. Because it’s ridiculously cynical. Trump makes it so no one can trust anyone. People lose their empathy for anyone. They end up being their own worst selves. Democracy cannot function if political parties and fellow citizens have zero trust between themselves. In a way, people end up becoming mini trumps. It’s why he has zero love or concern for even his closest family members.

2. Because it’s ridiculously stupid. America should have allies in Western Europe not just because it’s convenient, but because we share many of the same values. True, England and France aren’t perfect. But they’re a helluva lot better than dumpster fires like Russia or China. Countries that don’t give a **** about human rights.

Sadly, I see a lot of this cynical loser mentality since I live in a red state and am active lds. It’s a shared sense of “despair.” Which quite honestly, doesn’t make sense. When was it better to live in America? The 1950s when Jim Crow reigned supreme and women couldn’t even open bank accounts? In the 1700s when half your children wouldn’t reach adulthood? I just don’t get it. America in 2024 is remarkably successful and prosperous. Most of us carry computers in our pockets. I guess prosperity is making a lot of people bored?

And it's not even bills they owe anyone else.

It's like if you and some of your buddies all formed a Magic the Gathering club. Sometimes you'd get together to play, but to be in the club you were expected to buy a certain number of booster packs every month. Now these booster packs just improved your own decks, they belonged to you and you alone. So, some of the players, perfectly happy with the cards they already have buy two booster packs instead of three, and the one ******* in the group threatens to shut the whole club down because other people aren't buying as many booster packs as they're supposed to. Not only that, but the ******* tells the one known thief in the wider Magic the Gathering community where other players store their cards and says he won't say anything if the thief happens to acquire some of those cards somehow.
This is a good post lol

Humans can't be happy without something to strive against. It's in our DNA, the constant struggle for survival is what brought about the release of endorphins and built family and societies. So with all of our needs basically met, we fabricate things to strive against. In short, we can't be happy if we aren't miserable first. Too much happiness feels like a trick so we instinctually start looking for something to be miserable about. That's a driving force in all this. Not the only one obviously, but one to keep in mind regardless.

Trump has finally put his balls in his mouth, er, I mean his money where his balls used to be, errr, he put his money where his mouth is and made clear that he favors Ukraine ceding territory to Russia as a reward for Russia being so smart as to invade them and then completely stall out in the first couple days and two plus years later they have gained meager kilometers at the cost of more than 500,000 Russian soldier casualties.

This is why there was a dude with a gun on trumps golf course.

First thing I think of listening to that woman. Equal time for profound ignorance. Equal time for uneducated opinions. Yes, that’s free speech, and that’s fine. And nothing wrong with posting clips that demonstrate why we really should not say ignorant opinions are somehow of equal merit to more thoughtful and educated opinions. Yet, because the GOP is held captive by a profoundly ignorant man, the ignorant opinions of his supporters are more important to party leaders than intelligent discourse. Hence now the MAGA led GOP wishes to reward extreme aggression by our chief geopolitical adversary, because the cult leader’s ignorance is now the only opinion that matters.

Listening to that, it really is like having the village idiot running for president.
But remember, we can’t disparage, question, or demean the morons who vote for this guy. It offends them. So we must continue to rationalize away and excuse their voting for the village idiot cuz… reasons? Reasons that never apply to candidates with a D by their name. Imagine the backlash if Kamala ever rambled on like this idiot.

Oh but she can't talk at all, remember? She is a puppet. Last I heard she is a literal puppet that has no brain and only takes instruction from Biden and the Soros'es.

It’s as if Trump’s clueless ignorance is fully accepted as normal. We expect this of him. It’s the media that should be hammering home how disqualifying all this ignorance renders the man. Break down the things he says. Don’t be adverse to reminding the public that Trump seems to be someone who is mentally unbalanced. If Harris behaved this way, she’d be finished! Not yet baked in, speaking that way, she’d be run out of the race on rails.

Trump’s stupidity is baked in. And I would like the media to emphasize, not just the clueless ignorance, but the mental instability of one of our candidates for President. The traditional roll of the press is “watchdog”: keep an eye on our political leaders, and if they’re corrupt, or if they appear to be going off the rails, make sure the public understands that. We should never be in a situation where it is acceptable to have a village idiot running for the highest office. Yet, here we are. We should expect our allies to be slack jawed. We should expect our geopolitical adverseries to be grinning from ear to ear.

Something is broken for our body politic to find itself in this untenable position.

It's the inevitable outcome of a rigid 2-party system. Zero reason for either side to innovate in any way, shape, or form. Just generate enough outrage to get elected again. It took them a few decades to really understand that nothing mattered beyond the R or D behind the name but now that the body politic has proven itself to be exactly that ignorant and binary, there is absolutely no incentive for politicians to do anything differently. Corruption will get worse, constituents will be ignored and even openly ridiculed. This is not extremely far off of how Rome fell, so we have a historical precedent. How long until we are divided into the Colonies and Gilead?

Imagine if we really were in a recession. Trump could be cruising to victory. Truly, things need to change. The media is too incentivized to chase after clicks rather than to inform (Trump is great for business). And the electorate seems to have broken, a large share of voters are bored with our democracy and are desperately seeking relief from all of the boring peace and prosperity that our democracy brings. They’re seeking individual fulfillment by hurting others and lighting longstanding institutions on fire.

Good post
How so? I'm not being facetious. I'm genuinely curious.

@The Thriller is driven by hate. There is the odd exception here and there, but the overwhelming majority of his posts are an expression of hate towards a group of people or people posting on JF. Pull up his post history and with open eyes actually read what he writes. If it makes it easier to see the pattern, replace any reference to a group with 'Blacks'. As an example, the most recent post would end with @The Thriller saying "Blacks are seeking individual fulfillment by hurting others and lighting longstanding institutions on fire"

The three posts before that were personal attacks on @Bucknutz. One post is a good one where he talks expanding the scope of what it means to be pro-life. Then we're back to the insults with "But remember, we can’t disparage, question, or demean Blacks who vote for this guy. It offends them." Next is an attack on DeSantis and policy, which is fair game. Then again back to "...pandering to their low info Black base and leaned into...", and "good White people need to shame these Black children into oblivion and negate their voting by outvoting them. Frankly, they’re just n****r people and we need to call them what they are."

Of the last 10 posts made by @The Thriller, 80% of them are hate towards a group or a personal attack. That isn't an outlier. Go back as far as you care to and you'll find that is who he is. Sure, I've switched the group being demeaned, but the group doesn't matter. The underlying psychology is the same. In this latest post, @The Thriller is justifying his hatred by constructing something in his imagination. "Imagine if .... Blacks are seeking individual fulfillment by hurting others and lighting longstanding institutions on fire". I'm not attacking you but I really don't get why that is a good post.

I think people are bored with an easy life of convenience and having everything they need and trump and his drama cure that boredom for many people.

Dude, you pretend to be a civilized person for 19 out of 20 posts and then you say the most vile things I've ever heard a person say who wasn't playing the character of a WWII Nazi. You are the grossest of the gross as far as this site's trolls go. You're the scary one. You're the dangerous one. I see you.

Those with easy lives of convenience are not Trump's base. Rich kids who have never worked a day in their lives are not Trump voters. College grads in comfortable jobs making $200-300k are not Trump voters. It is a nice narrative, but the comfortable bored crowd are the White kids smashing the storefronts of Black-owned business while chanting "Black Lives Matter". They are the ones carrying banners that say "Queers for Palestine" while being oblivious to the fact of the only country in the Middle East that hosts Gay Pride marches is Israel, and the fighters of Hamas would throw them from the top of the nearest building.

I know not all Harris voters are the silly crowd, but the silly crowd is among Harris' strongest supporters.
