Just a fun exercise - so if you're a serious person, look away now.

OK guys.. if for some reason we can trade Ty to another team for their coach, but that other team wants a young player in return for taking on Ty's contract/baggage, etc. Who would you be willing to give up of the Core 4?

I would give up Burks, but it might not be enough for a decent coach.. so may be Hayward?

So I would trade Ty & Hayward for George Karl.

Thoughts?

Hayward?? Bro, that hurts. I live vicariously through Gordon "the Great White Hope" Hayward. ha. Seriously though, I don't think basketball is as much a coaches game as some people think. Don't get me wrong, I think a coach can be important, but talent is most important because if you don't have the right pieces/Talent, doesn't matter who the coach is. I think Hayward, Kanter, and Favors are going to be really good and they have all proven something to me. Burks on the other hand hasn't really proven anything to me as of yet (hope he does next year.) That being said, I think Scottie Brooks is actually a pretty good coach. I know he has the 2nd best player in the league right now and everything, but i still think he is pretty good (the best coach on the iast imo is Tibbs by the way). I so wish we had that dude as our coach).

Oh, and dudes, Kanter looks very promising. Like, he could be SPECIAL, so I am not interested in trading him for any coach. Phil Jackson was only as good as the talent he had.

Well he's top 3. I would put Pop in there with Jackson as the other 2. What Thibs has been able to do with the Bulls team this year missing D Rose is nothing short of amazing. With D Rose healthy, they should be in contention each year.

If Thibs is so amazing then why did the Bulls have nearly the same record as the Jazz with two current All-Stars and Boozer on the same team?

I'd do this trade:
.
Jazz Trade to the Spurs:
Ty Corbin
KOC
Lindsey
Greg Miller/Gail Miller
David Locke
Gordon Hayward
2013 1st Round Draft Pick
Whatever else assets to entice the taking of our garbage
.
Spurs Trade to the Jazz:
Their Owner
Their GM
Greg Popovich
whatever crap they want to throw in.

George Karl is an overrated coach and you're seeing why in this series against the Warriors. He's absolutely being out-coached by Mark Freakin' Jackson, who, I concede, might be a good coach ... but is coaching in his first playoff series EVER. Karl is a good regular season coach, which would certainly get Utah to the playoffs, but I don't see how that would be a vastly improved situation than what we have now considering, when in the playoffs, Karl has consistently underperformed.

The fact is, Jazz fans liked to rag on Jerry for never getting Utah the title - well Karl is a poor man's Sloan in the sense he can't even get out of the first round most years.

Just look at what he's done since leaving Seattle:

1999: Lost in First Round
2000: Lost in First Round
2001: Lost in Eastern Conference Finals
2002: Missed Playoffs
2003: Lost in First Round
2004: Lost in First Round
2005: Lost in First Round
2006: Lost in First Round
2007: Lost in First Round
2008: Lost in First Round
2009: Lost in Western Conference Finals
2010: Lost in First Round (Though the team was coached by Adrian Dantley)
2011: Lost in First Round
2012: Lost in First Round
2013: On the Verge of Losing in the First Round

Since 1999, George Karl's teams are 4-13 in playoff series and on the verge of being 4-15. That's awful. I mean, you'd think with how many times they made the playoffs at Denver, he'd be able to get the Nuggets beyond the first round more than once - but nope. Even with the Bucks, where he had a miraculous run to the Conference Finals in 2001 (though, let's be honest, a team made up of Social Security recipients could've won the east that year - it was ****ing terrible), he couldn't do much. Even a blind squirrel, you'd think, could have more playoff success than George Karl has the last 14 years. I'm not willing to potentially mortgage the future of this franchise just to grab him, win a few more regular season games and lose, as a 7th seed, in the first round.

No trading away talent for coaches. Just dump the current coach and bring in someone who isn't in the twilight of his career. Is that so hard?

LOL.. well apparently it is. We've still got 1 more year of Ty left!!!

Go get George Karl! Trade Hayward, both firsts and Ty. #Hotttnickkkisms

We need a coach who can get us two wins in the first round.

Short handed Bulls beat Nets in the first round.

This is a clear example of how a good coach can out match a team of super stars.
