2024 NBA Draft Mega Thread

We need guys who can shoot. All of these non-shooters are getting exposed in the playoffs.
The most common concern for draft prospects coming out is shooting. You can't exactly take those guys off the board, or very few people will be left. And just taking the 40+% sharpshooters out of college isn't some crazy success rate pick either. Need guys who can develop a shot.

I doubt Sheppard is high on our board he doesn't provide enough differentiation from our current guards and provides too much size redundancy.
Can you elaborate a bit? My initial reaction is to very vehemently disagree.

It's the rotation player or bust draft. Lots of flaws out of there. How good is your program at developing a player even with deep issues?

Normally when you draft high you are thinking about that player as someone you can build around... I think I may want to avoid the guys you are building around and build with some supporting types and hope they surprise you. Not sure if that makes sense but I don't necessarily want to gamble on the guys that need to be main characters to be effective (theoretically) unless I really believe in their talent. So guys like Topic and Dilly may not be my first picks unless I really thought they were going to be all-stars.

Working on my new big board with a write-up… there is a new #1 on my board and it might surprise you!

Is it just me, or is anyone else not all that excited for this draft class. Or maybe this ****** Jazz season has me looking at everything negatively.

I doubt Sheppard is high on our board he doesn't provide enough differentiation from our current guards and provides too much size redundancy. Also reports last year was that the Jazz were high on Anthony Black.

The Jazz allegedly tried to trade up into the top 5 or 6. Black was the primary target, but they may also have been looking at the Thompsons. The Jazz, OKC and Washington also tried to trade up to #7 last year for Coulibaly, but Washington won the deal. Jazz like positional size/length/athleticism, at least as a starting point.

Ulrich hasn't played in a competitive environment. That is a huge risk, but he has signs of all the tools. Not one by itself is elite but put them all together he does have chance to be a high end player. You have to use your imagination in this draft and the youngest player developing significantly is not hard to imagine.
What tools does he have that a handful of bigs every draft class dont have? He's not an elite athlete. He doesnt have elite size. He doesnt have any history of competitive play. His only standout trait is his age. I struggle to see anyone taking him top 40. Teams want players who are somewhat close to being NBA ready, not a guy you have to sink a ton of time into teaching how to play basketball.

The “weak draft” label from the media seems to distort people’s thinking too much in my opinion. We may not have clear top 3 in this draft, but it doesn’t mean the draft overall is that much different from other drafts. There are some great prospects there who, as usual, are not yet ready but will make a difference in a few years.

Right now my ideal draft would be Castle or Topic with the first pick and moving up in the draft to take Edey and that probably wont change.
Right now I think my draft strategy for the Jazz would be to pick Castle or the best wing available with our first pick and take two upperclassmen with our late picks.

Tyson/da Silva/Kolek/Dunn I think are my favorite guys that could be available. So I think I'm on board too.

There always seems to be a guy that falls like 10 spots further than he should and winds up in this range. I'd just take that guy. I could see maybe Tyler Smith or Missi sliding IDK.
