Keyonte George Hype & Appreciation Thread

Still early, but I dont see a lot of natural chemistry between Sexton and Keyonte. Still seems like giving this much load to Keyonte in his rookie year is a clear sign Sexton is going to get dealt within a year.
Wouldn’t be surprised, but my hunch is Clarkson nets a first this summer and they move Sexton to 6th Man. Not sure what our long-term need or plan at starting shooting guard is.

Clarkson would have to have a first attached to him at this point.

I don’t think so. He’s checked out and his salary is amazing for a contender starting this summer. I wouldn’t be surprised if the deal is already lined up. Doubt teams will be looking at the tank to judge his production.

I usually find these type of exercises to be futile, but what the hell? We’re losing games and I’m bored. Here’s Keyonte’s rookie numbers thus far matched up against Gilgeous-Alexander’s:

MPG:
Key- 25.7
SGA- 26.5

FG%
Key- 39.4%
SGA- 46.7%

3FG%
Key- 35.3
SGA- 36.7

PPG
Key- 12.2
SGA- 10.8

AST
Key- 4.5
SGA- 3.3

REB
Key- 2.8
SGA- 2.8

SGA’s overall FG% is quite a bit better, but that’s not surprising as he’s got an insane midlevel game, but other than that Keyonte’s overall numbers hold up pretty damn good.

If his ceiling ends up anywhere near SGA’s, Utah struck gold with the 19th overall pick- the exact type of thing that needs to happen in order for Utah to fully capitalize on the assets acquired forMitchell/Gobert. I think Key’s obviously had his fair share of rookie moments, but to say he’s been “bad” thus far is just nuts.

If anything, the side by side comparison should show Jazz fans that Keyonte could very well turn into a franchise cornerstone but it’s not happening overnight.

Teams might not read too much into this years suckage, but they sure as hell use it when they negotiate the price down.

There will be at least a few teams that would take Clarkson for free this summer.

There's a chance we find a taker, but all that talk about JC having an amazing contract just wasn't true. I think he would struggle to get a 2/$28 this summer.

I worry his ego might grow bigger than D-Will and Donovan's put together.
I hope it does.

If that’s the case trade Sexton in the offseason. Hes not good off the bench.

16th. I think people need to slow their roll right now. I hope so but if he’s going to be a star, he needs to get better at getting to his spots and being a better finisher

The renegotiate and extend really screwed us. At 17mil this year I bet we would have had more interest and moved him. The 24mil became an albatross to make salaries work.

I think we find a taker but if he had positive value at all and we passed I think it was a mistake. I could see him getting 2/28M with some bad team that has space... IDK... our cap management was real awesome last summer lol.

Problem is, most bad teams with space are not in the market for a Jordan Clarkson. If anyone had interest in him, it'd probably be a win now contender and there can't be many of those teams with space. There may be sum with a full non-tax paying MLE, but that's about what he's already getting paid.

If we find a taker, it's because there's another contender with a Fournier type....dead money contract. All the pieces have to align for us to get something for him....but at this point I do not think we should expect anything. He has been awful this year and we are better off without him. Keyonte is already better than him....but that is hardly saying much as JC has been one of the worst players on paper this season. The eye test doesn't look good for him either.

Was about to correct you and throw out Charlotte and Detroit... but forgot about Marcus Sasser from Detroit (Ivey obviously factors in but without Sasser I thought maybe). Charlotte has Tre Mann playing well and Lamelo coming back next year and I think Nick Smith Jr. has shown enough that he would be prioritized.

San Antonio maybe? Sacramento if Monk bails out is one I would think might get it done. Yeah I don't like his market.

Hope for a dummy or we likely are taking back a different kind of bad deal. We need a JC heater but can't be good enough we win a bunch of games lol.

I think the spurs and pistons are the prime candidates. Sasser is more of a pg and I think the front office is going to be feeling some heat to become more competitive next year. The spurs will likely be looking for some more scoring punch off the bench. If they end up getting the raptors pick this year as well they may consider entering more of a win now mode since they will already have a strong stable of young guys and of course a foundation piece in Wemby.

I didn't go through the exercise of looking through each team, but I was just thinking, "one of the worst players in the league this season, aging, undesirable player archetype, likely on a contract he could not earn if he was a FA". Market is always going to be tough for that.

I didn't go through each team either... was just thinking of a few prime targets I'd think would be in the market and looked at them a little harder. Atlanta should do us a solid... they owe us and they can reunite JC with Quin.
