What's new

Monday Spurs VS Jazz 7 PM ET ---- Front row seat!

Half Mexican, with a Mexican wife, and 2 Mexican children... but I live in inner Ogden, where being Mexican doesn't necessarily make you a minority.

I hope to hell you're telling the truth, or this is a very disturbing post. I'll sign out, but I'm shocked that you were fine with the comment. Hope to hell that your kids' teachers aren't seeing your children as "feral Mexican" children.

there is so much truth in this, hahaha

Best part about what is happening is we actually have an identity. Guys are actually learning their roles and filling them.

I also thought for the first time in a while Exum had a really positive effect on a game.

We are actually building something here... It's coming together.

Words do hurt people. Entire populations of people. When people are comfortable verbally denigrating an entire group they are comfortable discriminating in ways that really **** up those peoples lives. You're right though, guys like you and I(white guys) are only hurt by words if we choose to let them. That isn't the case for everybody.

I agree with your post.
However I don't think that a post in a jazz gamethread is going to lead to anyone getting hurt.

I think the people of mexico will somehow find a way to get over the post in this thread and maybe one day they can even heal

Yeah, I'm dumb for wanting the former NBA Championship MVP who can defend Lebron James and is still really young.
Maybe you missed my post where I said that I wouldn't be upset if we added leonard..... in fact I works be quite happy.

I just said that right now I think we need offense more than defense. That's all

Are you saying that this dude on jazzfans has power over the mexican people.

I had no idea...... that does change things a bit

Fishonjazz, I have to disagree with you. Casual racism is a big thing. Just because some people have thick skin doesn't mean it's all right to put up with it. We are adults, we can stand insults...but being victim of discrimination is another thing, hopefully you are never treated differently because the color of your skin or nationality. Just saying.

Btw, great game. The best moment of the game was that Gobert block against Green. How he dared to enter Rudy's territory!

It doesn't matter who says the words, what matters is the person or people on the receiving end. If someone on this board is offended by something, it's not on you to try and convince them to not be offended. Just my opinion

Last one because this is so indicative of a young naive human being (irrespective of age). Are you seriously claiming that you can say whatever you want, and if you offend someone, then that is their problem. You do realize that you can be fired, lose the rights to teach, be sued etc. because of the vitriolic filth that comes out of people's mouths. The board is not a free for all; that's why we have moderators, so that people can feel comfortable expressing their views about a basketball team without receiving insults that are the seeds of hate crime. It's been very enlightening to see how racism is alive an well in America at all levels.

Don't make decision based on 2 games. Especially not on the last two games. We still don't know how our back court will perform on a long-term basis.

His post was actually in support of you and against me lol

lol

I lived in Ogden for a week once. I found a newly remodeled place to rent for a pretty good deal. Within one week I was electrocuted twice(one time stepping out of the shower, one time opening the refrigerator), the neighbors dog tore the **** out of my pants, and my car was broken into. In the same night the toilet backed up and there was a gas leak that was bad enough that questar shut it off and red tagged it. When I bitched to the landlord he tried to make the sewer thing somehow my fault for washing my clothes at the wrong time of day. I packed up my **** and was out of Ogden within 2 hours.

O-town is a **** hole.

So I checked the box score, then started watching the replay on Root. What happened go Exum? To start the game he drilled a 3pt shot, then took it to the rim the next time down the floor-- but he ended with only 5 pts?

I hope the same. Look, what he said isn't right, but letting anonymous comments on a sports message board strike such a deep chord is beyond my scope of energy. i work long days and barely have time to check JF, let alone re-hash high school civics class over a message board. I appreciate the intent, i do, but there is a lot of negativity in the world, what issues are more important than others is a matter of opinion. I'd be a food not to acknowledge that hate exists, but feel comfortable enough with who i am to see past its fallacies. Racism will never be eradicated. Only when you are comfortable with who you are, can you see past other's judgments. I am fortunate enough to be able to see that; i have several friends who take to heart what some outspoken few have to say, and it is hard to see. But that's what i hope to pass on to my kids, they will never escape it, but they need to understand that the things people can say can only be true if they let them be true..

There you go, you got me ranting. you win. haha.

I have been treated differently because of the way I dress, the fact that I smoked pot, and the length of my hair. It sucked.

I think that a single post in a jazz gamethread by some random Australian dude just is not something to get so fired up about. Pick your battles better imo. There are bigger fish to fry imo

I'm trying not to get angry but your thinking is so obstinately insular that it defies the imagination. Try to think with your brain for god's sake. Do you really think that anyone who has tried to reason with you thinks that it is physically going to hurt the people of Mexico or that their society will suddenly go into decay? You're a racist and you don't realize it.

This is a UTAH JAZZ board, not an Enes Kanter board.

I am so sad that I had to point that out.

This. Clearly, clearly the point has been made, Kanter was somehow asinine as for chemistry in the locker room. Something was up with his presence, I don't know what but something... This team is tighter now, so he was definitely better off and DL delivered. Case closed.

Hey kudos to Burke as of late, he's showing a higher IQ and he wasn't shooting those forced baskets we were used to seeing. If he embraces this role I don;t mind him sticking around. Now when Exum works on his ball handle and gets it to be as good as Burke's, ohhhhh boy. That kid has something I'm telling you guys, he was even showing some attitude tonight.

Yes, he is playing under control. That floater is finally falling

Do you think a lineup of rudy, favors, exum, and hayward is better defensively or offensively?
