The Official June Trade Idea

The Jazz need to trade everything and anything but Hayward, Gobert, Favors, Burks, Exum, and Hood, for Stanly Johnson.

I think, the way the NBA is going, Stanly Johnson could end up very valuable. He could end up, as Zach Lowe as so astutely promulgated and written about, as a "Play Making 4." Johnson could be our Draymond Green/ Kawhi Leonard. Our 3 bigs could be Favors, Gobert, Johnson. And Johnson obviously could play the 3 as well. I think we'd need to make our 4th big a stone cold 5.

This package should get it done:
Trey Burke
#12
2016 1st rounder (Unprotected)
GSW 2017 1st rounder
OKC 1st (I hate you Enes Kanter)

Discuss the trade and the value of Johnson to the current group.

Sorry but that is way too much for Johnson. I am a big fan but four 1st round draft picks for one guy is too much because Johnson isn't a sure thing.

Stanley is too short to even guard the bigger SFs in this league, let alone PFs. So no...that's not "where the league is going", at least if you want to win.

I agree. That is way too much. Jazz get hosed in that deal.

Way too many assets just to move up a couple spots in the mid lottery.

I'm all in on the Stanley Johnson bandwagon, but that's WAY too much to give up. Also, I think Johnson is a 2/3. He profiles as a solid wing, who "might" be able to switch to smaller 4's occasionally, but he's not going to be a "Swiss Army Knife" defender like Draymond Green. He just doesn't have the length or strength to do that consistently.

With that said. . . I absolutely think that he can be a dynamic, lock-down perimeter defender at the 2 spot. The question is going to be what his offense looks like. I kind of love the idea of a potential lineup of Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Johnson and Exum with Booker, Jingles, Hood and Burks sparking the bench.

#12 plus 2 seconds should be enough to move up to #8 and draft Stanley Johnson. Some boards predict he will actually fall to Utah at #12 though.
