What's new

Following potential 2017 draftees...

Here's 'The Nigerian Nightmare" almost taking the whole basket down with one hand.

Azubuike is rumored to have experienced some work ethic problems.
Just give me Giles and call it a day.

Unfortunately, Giles and Tatum will both be dukies. sick.

Damn. I still kinda hope Giles goes to Wake.. Knowing that, I want Jarrett Allen and Azubuike even more though, those dudes play tough as nails. They'd need to control the paint to beat a Duke team that loaded.

Hey.. just fyi.

Murray is basically down to 3 options;

UK
Oregon
stay in Canada and go straight draft

He is trying to reclassify and it looks like he will. If so, he'll hit up UK or ducks. If he's unable he will play next year in HS and by pass college for the draft.

The Canadian 2018 player, Simi ****tu. showed out bigtime vs the US 16 squad last week in the championship game.. They were actually beating the US team (which has never lost a game, ever) 19-3 at the end of the first quarter, and ****tu was doing work. He led the tournament in rebounds and finished with 18pts and 14 boards in a 77-60 loss.

I really hope Murray goes to UK, I'd like to see him at Oregon too, the fact that he can stay in HS and declare for the draft is totally bogus IMO. I realized players could do that last year looking at ****tu.

While this is getting bumped. Why not an international hopeful? 7'1" Jonathan Jeanne of Guadalupe(France).

who's said its his goal to play in the NBA in 3 years. '97 born and he's obviously rail thin, He shows more skill than you'd think and actually shot 17/41 from 3 for his team, Centre Federal Du Basket-Ball. Looks good dribbling the ball in practice settings he definitely runs/moves well.

How's about another international hopeful. 6'10" Ömer Faruk Yurtseven of Uzbekistan, he plays on the Turkish youth squads, got some minimal burn in the Euroleague this year at a very young age. He was also just the youngest player at the Eurocamp not including the futures group. I think he's a better prospect than Egemen Guven, who got some attention on Jazzfanz last year IIRC.

This vid is 1½ years old but it gives ya an idea. Solid post moves and footwork at that age. long arms, quick jumper, good instincts, shows good touch and range, runs well, looks like a 2-way player with a good frame to add strength.

I guess Frank Jackson belongs in this thread ....he's probably a lock McDonalds All-American guy now as his recruiting seems to have gone next level lately and he's killing at the top 100 camps:

Didn't their head coach accept a job as an assistant at BYU this summer? I'm curious how Lone Peak Basketball does without him. Not nearly as well would be my guess.

There is a long way to fall from being national champs....that's for sure. They'll probably be fine this year....and I think there's one kid a year behind Frank Jackson that's a D-1 prospect.....but he didn't look like a top flight guy to me when I saw them play a few times last year so I think the fall starts in 2016. Extremely unlikely they keep popping out all these 4/5 star type guys like they have. They've just had a great run of talent. I think one of those Lehi area high schools will probably be next in line to be a local power - just so many young kids in that area. Wasatch Academy too - they've got pretty decent talent considering they just started taking basketball seriously and they recruit internationally and stuff. I could see a bunch of high level local talent going there if they can get that program rolling a little better than it is right now.

There's supposed to be a 7'3" kid, Matthew Van Komen, in Lehi, Utah that can shoot and run. He's young though, C/O 2019. His mother was a BYU basketball player and in the blurb I read on him, it said he should transfer to Lone Peak eventually.

Frank Jackson is much more relevant to this thread. He's a legitimately elite PG and has some crazy hops already. Looks like he's added visible muscle to his frame, from the footage from Eurocamp. His class, 2016, is loaded with top-notch PG's so its going to be quite the task to separate from the pack of:

Dennis Smith
De'Aaron Fox
Kobi Simmons
Lonzo Ball
Frank Jackson

This is Fox and he's a dynamo defender. 6'3"-6'4" with long arms, he absolutely wrecks havoc in all forms of defense and in transition. I've long suspected if you match these PG's up 1v1 that Fox would cause lots of issues. hes ultra athletic so he's a lefty who goes left all the time. He's gotta work on his PG skills, right hand and shot selection, he can guard SG's easily. Streaky but when he's on, its really something to behold.

This footage might have something to do with his recent bump up to the 4th player in 247's rankings, he's certainly been showing well of late for them to put him over Dennis Smith.

Vs one of the top guards(5star) of 2018, who made the USA u16 team this year. 6'3" Javonte Smart.

Kobi Simmons will be a CAT.

and Josh Langford a Spartan. damn. He's really good, way better than Gary Harris.

Kobi Simmons looks top-notch. Landing Markelle Fultz to play with him would be a deadly double combo guard look. Simmons and Malik Monk would be absolutely insane though.

My favorite 4 star player in this class is Javin DeLaurier. he's got a ton of raw talent, enough to be mentioned in this thread.

Yep, Monk and Simmons is my wish list for the backcourt.

I haven't watched Javin.. heard his name a few times, but no film watched.
