What's new

Rumor: Jazz want to - and can - acquire Milsap. May trade Favors in draft day deal.

Jazz rumors always pan out.

Pretty sure this is already a done deal since Jazz like to leak stuff to the media and fans and then do it.

Not saying there are any truths to these rumors but this isn't your daddies Jazz. New FO and new way of doing things. Not nearly as closed off.

No - but it has no relevance to the discussion over whether A) Jody's source is accurate, B) whether he's sourced it twice with two credible individuals to be able to report it (journalistic ethics.)

For what it's worth, this Millsap rumor has been going on for weeks now. I believe it was initially reported by Andy Larsen who had heard it from a source.

Also Boobs - I really couldn't care less about reputation, but giving me a neg for calling out the fact that there's absolutely no reason to be attacking a beat reporter's struggles with weight instead of the credibility of his sources is totally nuts.

I have every right to wonder if Jody is smoking weed and eating too much still. you can't stop my curiosity. Please respect others.

Chance of that happening? Definitely not in the Jazz favor. So you take a good team and go all in with a two of a kind hoping you beat the rest of the table. If it pays off, great. If its NBA 2K great go for it. You can always adjust the rating later. If its real life and you own a team you dont take that kind of risk. If he busts, which is more likely than being a star or even being a starter in this league, then this team is gone. You cant have a losing team in this market that long. This team would lose so much money. Besides the ownership DL is out of a job if he messes up this trade and probably does not get a chance at GM again taking that big of a risk and messing it up.

You can't be mediocre for long either. I think GM's realize that playing it "safe" it's necessarily the best way to stay employed. With that said I have no idea what the Jazz are doing or if there's anything to these reports. My point is I see the logic in a deal similar to the one I comment on. All the comments are saying how tragic it would be to trade Favors and that may be true. However I could see said deal being a home run.

As far as chances of the best case scenario happening with this trade that depends on how DL's and his scouts fell about Porzingis as a prospect and/or how good they think their chance is to sign Millsap.

I guess if you think Jazz are going to be mediocre with Favors and their current lineup maybe you try something.

Personally I think Jazz are on track to be in the playoffs, which is above mediocrity. I also think they have pieces and if players develop like they could Jazz have the makings of a great team with some small adjustments.

I think Favors could well be a stater on a championship team. Especially if Gobert and/or Exum becomes a star. I think Favors and Hayward are both good enough to be a robin on a championship team if we can get our batman out of someone else. Maybe we get 5 2nd tier players below super stars as starters and thats good enough to win it all as well. I am not quite sure that anyone on the Warriors is a super star in this league and they won it all.

I think the Jazz if the core makes some reasonable progressions and stay together has the ability to be the early 2000's Pistons. However IMO that requires a lot of things breaking right for the Jazz.

what kind of retarded moron looks at a 23 year old long athletic efficient offensively awesome defensively power forward with a very reasonable contract and think "we can do better" ?????????????????
If this happens i will burn every piece of Jazz gear i have

Unless you are telling me Favors is a top 10 or at least the best 4 in the game then of course you can do better.

if you're incredibly lucky and with another handful of years of development. The odds are overwhelmingly against it even if you pull that trigger. So much to lose not to mention disrupting team chemistry, someone who actually wants to stay in Utah.

Hopefully it's just a smokescreen and the ball hogging chucker gets traded.

Chemistry is important, but so is fit. I'm not advocating trading Favors. I just can see the logic behind a deal that brings in a player that has a higher ceiling and offer a better fit.

Favors and Gobert front court is better than a Millsap and Gobert one. And by a mile. On offense is about even, but on defense it's no contest. Favors along side Gobert is the future.
