What's new

Summer League Roster rumors/confirmations?

I'm sure many of us remember 25 y/o Patrick Beverley rudely introducing Trey to the SL.

It's not about age, it's about someone making 10 million dollars per year playing in SL.

I don't think that has ever happened.

Pretty sure I remember reading Burks wouldn't be ready for full contact 5-on-5 until August, but I may be remembering wrong.

Pleiss seems like a somewhat pedestrian Mozgov. Just not that athletic. But it will be interesting to see.

Mozgov seems much more built, especially in his base.

Pleiss looks like Aaron Grey to me, just from a physical/athletic standpoint.

Stat line from that game:

Trey Burke, 11 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 4 turnovers, on 33% from the field.

Patrick Beverley, 11 points, 3 assists, 4 rebounds, 2 turnovers on 50% from the field.

at one point in that game Beverley stole the dribble right out of Trey's hands, it was cringeworthy. That's what I remember.

Yep. ANYONE can play in summer league. Historically, it's only been first and second-year players, though. I think it's pretty impressive Alec wants to play, but I doubt we see him in any games. He'll likely practice, but I'd be very surprised if he gets any significant game-time action.
He would dominate sl. Hard.

Haven't been told if Tibor Pleiss will play with the Jazz in summer league, but he's here so they might as well put him to work
That's awesome news

Didn't Burks spot play a few years ago? He might pop in for a game or two again.

Utah has drafted guards that they will be putting through the ropes. Haws would be better off playing SL for another team. Same could probably said for Bachynski. They should be shooting for a team like the Pellies for SL. The Jazz should be a last resort for both of them.

Could be true. Personally, seeing how he didn't even get a combine invite, I'm expecting about 10 mins of burn average during the summer league - if that- regardless of where he plays. And selfishly, I don't want to/won't watch another summer league team just to wait for Haws to get his 10 minutes off the bench. But if he were coming in off the Jazz bench for those 10 minutes, I'd be watching of course. I'm guessing he'll play for Suns though. They worked him out, and I think Hornacek is a guy that could appreciate/find a way to use his mid-range game well. That would be a good spot for him.

The Big Lead had Saunders ranked ahead of Trey Lyles as a college player. They had the undrafted freshman from Kansas as their No. 2 player so they might have swung and missed a bit.

Locke said that Grant Jerrett would be playing for the Jazz this year too. He has a guaranteed deal for next season and two more un-guaranteed team options years after that. Grant missed summer league with okc last year, I don't know why.

Locke said Jerrett had some running and moving issues similar to Myles Turner who was drafted by the Pacers. Locke reported that Jerrett had been working hard to correct them.

He also has no neck.
