Why no Love for Trevor Booker?

The bottom line is that Booker is a good backup, but the catch is that his contract is perfect for trading or use as an asset for DL.

It's not necessarily that we should shop to get rid of Booker, but if we could get a good player for our team we could use Booker and his contract if necessary.

I'm pretty sure:

We could also sign a free agent and then pick up his contract, after. We can use his 5 mil in cap space to get a guy as long as we do it in that order.

he can't be a starter, if you wanna build a contender. He can come off the bench and give boost in certain games, thats it

I like Booker, but if Utah wants to make a trade, they have to send back salary in most deals, so you have to pick your poison. His contract was structured as a trade asset from the beginning. Unless you'd rather trade someone like Burks, Booker and Burke are most likely to be involved in a trade.

Literally no one on Jazz fans dislikes Booker. Actually I'm pretty sure everyone ****ing loves him. Emotionally he is the perfect player. In game he makes some of the most exciting plays.

I absolutely love Trevor Booker. I would love it if he remained on the roster and played a role for us this upcoming season.

But he is expendable if we find a better player available.

So we renounce booker, sign green and have 3 nba bigs, (being generous With lyles here) like 6 wings, and 5 or so pg's?

It's looking like we are going to sign Pleiss.

Also, if the worry is about Burks/Hood getting minutes, we can always play Hayward at PF some.

I think he's terrific for this young team. I've been a fan of his since early last season, for all of the reasons you mentioned. I do think we should hold onto him at LEAST through this season, until we can see what Trey Lyles becomes.

But, frankly, we should hold onto him for even longer, if possible. He's the only real bad *** on our team, and he provides leadership and the kind of scrappiness that we lost when DMC was allowed to walk a couple seasons back. Booker's an asset all the way.

Good topic to bring up, OP.

Where did I mention renouncing Booker to sign anyone? Personally, I don't see any great FA possibilities that are realistic. Trades are a different story.

I like Booker a lot. His sticking up for the franchise is reason enough but if Lyles is ready to play and the Jazz bring over Pleiss then I don't see too many minutes for him. I would like the Jazz to pick up his option if there are no reasonable upgrades. I will always be a fan of his just like Jeremy Evans who most likely won't be back.

I like Booker. He's a capable backup and he played well when Favors was away for a few games. He's nasty and I think he still still has room to improve.
