What's new

As of today, is it fair to doubt the organization's commitment to the playoffs next year?

It's not an either or for me with Burks or Harris... I want both. I think Burks is gonna have a great year and is signed very inexpensively. If he puts up numbers his trade value goes waaaay up.

If Harris wants to come we would have to bring him off the bench as a super sub... he would play a little less than 30 minutes per game and it would prolong his career. He'd be an important contributor on a winner and play with unselfish guys and the best rim protection in the NBA. If he isn't interested in that then go sign with the Knicks or Lakers and enjoy putting up stats on ****ty teams.

Totally confused by the Burks or Harris talk. Burks is a 2. Harris woulld be a replacement for Booker at the 3/4 spots.

Just because Masai won does not mean DL lost. 2 2nd rounders for a few months of Novak sounds like a winner to me. Win win

He won the war, but had a very minor loss in that battle. DL rallied by taking advantage of a different GM... I'm not saying don't call him, but hang up immediately when he starts doing his negotiation voodoo.

Not necessarily. Harris would get most minutes at 3, and spot minutes at the 4 if needed. Hayward would get minutes at the 2, and some at the 3, while Hood backs him up at the 2. Unless Burks is moved to the 1, there aren't enough minutes to spread around.

Harris is a 3/4. Booker is a 3/4. If Harris is on the team, the Jazz either simply don't re-sign Booker or Booker never sees the floor. Harris is simply a better player who gets all Booker's minutes. Harris is Favors primary back up. Harris takes all of Booker's minutes and Lyles would be impacted as well.

Would look something like this:

Favors plays 25 minutes at PF, 10 minutes at C.
Harris plays 23 minutes at PF, 5 minutes at SF.

No. Because we have a lot of talent already at every position and we want to develop them and go to the playoffs with them, and we believe we can, and we believe in them.

I'd have to agree with the board clown. It's hard to argue with this post, especially considering the trajectory of the team after the all-star game.

Booker is mainly a 4. Harris is mainly a 3. Booker getting 20 mpg is fine. Harris getting 20 mpg is garbage. I am talking about a realistic situation. A borderline All Star who makes a leap each year is not coming over to play back up at the 4.

I think Harris' big benefit would be at the 4... I'd want him on the floor for the 16ish minutes that Favs isn't playing 4. Then he could get 12ish minutes at 3. I doubt he goes for it... teams with cash are losing out on the big guys and he'll likely move into one of those spots. Lakers, Dallas, and maybe Indiana might look better and might offer max.

I am not convinced that he's strong enough to defend the 4, but I agree that his floor spacing ability makes up for any defensive shortcomings. But like I said, Harris will need to get paid big and play big minutes. He's not coming over otherwise.

Harris isn't mainly a 3 or 4, he can play both. Not sure where you are getting the 20 mpg, however. In my scenario, he gets 28 - could even go to 30 if Favors bumps up to 12 or 13 minutes at C for Gobert's rest.

Until the first week in the season and we lose one guy to injury and then all of a sudden we don't have as much talent as we thought. When 100% healthy a couple guys are gonna lose a few minutes. SA... the smartest team in the league has one player who plays more than 30 minutes a night. I'd rather have our core guys playing less during the season and then letting playoff matchup dictate minutes.

End of season hayward was dinged up... Favors was too... maybe playing a few less minutes might help us come into the playoffs completely healthy.

It's possible I suppose. He's currently in the top 10 in minutes played. Either way, it's not like the Jazz are going to sign him. I don't want to invest emotionally in an unlikely scenario. :p

I was just about to go that route as well if this discussion would have continuted much longer. Harris isn't walking through that door.
