What's new

Trey Lyles being held out of practice/Summer League for now

Connecting dots here... I don't think we are signing anyone so this is likely an uneven salary deal we are looking at. My guess is it depends when an who David West signs with. If he signs with Spurs they have no more need for Diaw and might move him along with assets (mills, Kyle Anderson, first rounder) to us... If he goes to Cleveland I don't see any deal we would be involved in.

If he goes to Washington is there some sort of 3 way involving Nene? May be no deal here.

Something is holding this up and I think its the David West situation.

Don't think this is a mega deal as others may think.

Somethings holding it up....But, I hope its a blockbuster to the Jazz....D.L get us that superstar and doesnt include Hood, Exum, Hayward, Favors, or Gobert.

So we are trading Booker, Burks, Burke and draft picks for a super star? Seems farfetched.

I legit think it is Diaw and Mills into our capspace if SA get a commit from West. The numbers are so close with our space and their salaries that it would make sense to preserve the $300k+ of flexibility. It may be Cotton to SA for Diaw and Mills.

We then may have a follow up deal for Booker and Burke to go somewhere... picks/dead money coming back... Like Booker and Burke to Washington for Webster and a pick... something smallish like that.

If West doesn't go to SA I think we move Booker for McBob and I hope a pick swap option on the 2017 GSW first rounder with the Heat's first rounder. Saves them like $20 M this year and opens up more cap space for them next year.

Call me crazy but I wouldn't want to do that Spurs deal. Why try and make them better, for a low 1st rounder. I could see the Mcroberts trade but i'd want a future 1st plus the rights to swap. Your saving them like 20 million. Mcroberts could be a great pickup, depending on his injury. Again, theirs a bigger deal / situation holding things up.

Im not about to read this whole thread but what's the consensus on this move by the front office? Does it have a precedent? It's kind of wierd right?

It sounds like the way they are negotiating with Lyles is the San Antonio way.

It may be the case... there is some precedent for it. Seems like a dick move to do to start out your first rounders career if you already have space and are not in the tax. i'd rather just give him what everyone else would and move forward. No need to hurt relationships with the player or agent over what is pennies compared to the dollars that will be out there the next few years.

What's amusing about how much Dala and NAOS aggravate eachother is how similar they are. Although one is less pretentious than the other.

This is one of the worst posts ever.

Okay, but you're really missing out.

Your not crazy... Mills would be awesome and has a great contract. Diaw is not known for being in great shape and could end up being a dud... we could waive him after a year though.

The Heat have too many obligations with their picks... think the best you'd get is a pick swap. McBob is on a good deal (according to how players are being paid this offseason) and I really don't think they'd have a problem moving him to other teams.

DL should get fire. He takes him even though he should take booker and now he causes friction!!!!! Why is his problem??
