Over on RealGM I read some comments and wanted to know what my fellow Jazz fans think.

One is that some posters expected the Jazz to be roughly the same on O this season because Hayward doesn't have any help on that end.

Another comment was that the Jazz don't have any players that are that good at ball handling and that will cost them the playoff spot.

thoughts?

I can buy the offensive thing, though if Burks and Hood improve like we all think they will there will be Hayward's help. Heck, if Favors develops a 17 footer that's reliable there's more offensive help. I always sleep on Favors but there is a guy who has done nothing but "quietly" improve his game year after year.

The ball handling thing. It's possible, but if Quinn's system doesn't use the PG in a traditional manner this effect will be negated. Very good/crisp passing and the willingness to pass is critical for this to work, but the Lakers game (granted, preseason, yeah I know) gave me hope this is improving. I think all the wings are capable ballhandlers, though not excellent. If Neto learns how to shoot though all of a sudden the Jazz do have a PG who can handle the ball (not that the two have anything to do with each other, but the former does have something to do with Neto seeing the floor more).

Our offense will be better. It's hard to say how much better, but it will be better. I think the first two preseason games have shown glimmers. Individually, I expect Hayward, Favors, Hood, and Burks to take steps forward offensively.

Ball handling isn't a strength, but it won't be what costs us a playoff spot (if we miss out). --I wish we had one more quality bench piece who could score in bunches. That's what might cost us.

Non-Jazz fans don't think we are that great unless they are NBA die hards.

I live in Sacramento and have outstanding bets with every sucker Kings fan I can find. I have gotten them to bet me straight up on win total between the two teams. When they ask me how they will be they are generally shocked to find I am very bullish on the Jazz. They think we are in a perpetual rebuild (which is high comedy seeing as the Kings haven't made the playoffs in forever). They also don't know the greatness of Gobert. I felt a little bad but a few of them were talking all sorts of smack and I basically told them they could no longer offer input into the conversation unless they were willing to bet me straight up on wins.... I basically shushed them like a child.

Long and short of it... most people don't see how good we can be. They overlook the return of AB and don't know we basically only had a healthy Hood down the stretch. Basically those guys don't know what up!

taking easy money through sports bets with idiots................ pure fun.

A couple of the guys are total douches too. I may not even spend the money... just look at it when I'm sad and smile.

when the Vegas lines came out I ribbed them a bit... Vegas is giving Utah 10 more wins than Sac.

With Burks, Hood and Hayward we have good number of players who can create with ball in their hands, the problem is only Hayward has really proven he can do it efficiently on high usage for a full season. In other words, it's somewhat understandable for people who don't regularly follow the Jazz to not know we actually have offensive threats besides Hayward.

I think that rotation needs to be staggered during the first 3 quarters and they need to finish the game together. We might have found something with the PG-less lineups. I really loved what the Burks-Hood-Millsap lineup did at the end of the Lakers game. Imagine Hayward instead of Millsap in that lineup and Gobert and Favors in the paint. If two of them hit their 3s at a good rate(>38%), I think we can take a small step forward offensively. I doubt we would be juggernaut offensively, but we can be respectable, while keeping top defense. That's a recipe for a contender. If we are top 5 in defense and top 15 offensively that's usually ~50 wins team.

What? At even odds? WTF! I guess since their announcers and beat writers think it it's only normal for their fans to follow suit. Might need to revive the Fiesta of delusion thread...
