Official UofU homer thread

I think Utah jumps Mich St and TCU.

Great win.

Welcome to big boy football. Style points are irrelevant. If you win every game by 1 pt, you're a national champ.

Great win. Great win.

Big game coming up. I said before the season that the winner of the Utah/ASU game wins the south. I stand by that.

Great situation for Utah. Oregon loses, barely beat Cal, ASU has your number...good situation to get back to work. Any overconfidence should be gone, and Utah can easily lose this weekend. Time to get back to work.

Wilson better step it up big time for ASU. That game worries me a lot.

Was just happy we escaped in this one. I wasn't even making noise on that last drive, I couldn't manage anything other than being stressed as ****. When we broke up the play on fourth, I didn't even cheer. Just sat there with my face in my hands. Exhausting game.

I've said it all summer: the winner of the ASU/Utah game gets to play Stanfird for the PAC-12 title.

"Get over it"? Christ, seriously? If you don't like your opinion being challenged, then don't post it on an internet message board.

Sorry, I didn't realize this was life or death with you. I promise to keep it all sunshine and roses if you'll promise to keep taking your meds.

Like I said, if an ugly win over an undefeated ranked opponent is enough to remove a team from the conversation, then no team should be in the conversation.

That's not what you said.

Anywho... after having some time to decompress, it was a good win over a tough Cal team (their defense played much better than advertised and Goff is really good, 5 INTS notwithstanding.)

Our defense won the game for us, holding the Bear Raid to 24 points. They got a tiny bit of help from Lawler, but they forced 5 of the 6 turnovers on a team that hangs its hat on winning the turnover battle.

And Booker, of course, was lights out.

And now that all the tension has dissipated, I've let down my guard a bit and I'm willing to admit that I was a little hard on Utah right after the game. That's just how I am. Maybe it is pessimism, but I like to tell myself it's guarded optimism.

If Travis can find a groove, I think we can be as good as anyone, at this point.

It's a tough mind switch. We've been in the MWC where you have to win, win big, and do it with style so people will notice you.

In the MWC, you were lucky to have three games that anyone cared about.

Not anymore. The schedule is too tough. We play 8-10 nationally relevant games. You have to survive.

Alabama beat Arkansas by one point last year. All that matters was they won.

Same with us. Look at our schedule: Cal, ASU, USC. That is BRUTAL. There are MAYBE 5 teams that go 2-1 vs those three teams one right after another. I'm not sure anyone would go 3-0 vs those three teams scheduled how we have them scheduled.

Look at Cal's schedule. It is unreal. They could realistically end the year 1-6. If Cal goes 4-3 over their last 7, they should end the year ranked.

It's crazy how that is.

I think as we are in the PAC-12 longer, we will be less disappointed after games like last night.

Here's something crazy to consider:

We are hard on Utah after last night's win.

The national perception of Utah went UP, and it wouldn't shock me to see Utah jump into the top 3 after last night's win.

Good win.

Booker is a beast, reminds me of Pierre Thomas.

The defense is really good, especially the front 7.

Wilson is a ****ing scrub.

Cal's offensive line is garbage.

Utah is going to lose because o Wilson. Just 0 chance this team goes undefeated with that bad of a QB.

Great post.

Let's also not forget that Utah was in control for most of the game and led for most of it. And if not fore a long play on a screen pass late in the first half, this game isn't even in jeopardy.

And if it wasn't for a Cal WR dropping a TD and a Cal WR dropping a first down in the red zone that directly led to a INT?

I wouldn't say either team controlled this game. Way too many TO's to say anyone was in control. Both teams had 0 control the entire game.

Wilson's arm just isn't consistent enough. I think his form makes it hard to be accurate on a consistent basis. Really the only true weakness for this team.
