“My goal is to start as point guard” Schroder said. “If this doesn’t happen, I will look for other opportunities” added the German talent. “The Hawks are a great team, the city is nice and everything is perfect now. Teague? He was an All-Star and he helped me a lot. I must be patient and work hard and eventually I’ll have my opportunities” ended Schroder.
What would you give up for him? Burks + first? Burke + 2 firsts?

Discuss?

He is better than Burke but not by leaps and bounds. He plays in a system where 4 three point shooters are on the floor at any given time. Must be nice to have that spacing.

He can seek all he wants, he is in his 3rd year and will be a RFA. Unless he wants to sign a QO for a 5th year and become a UFA, he really has no choice in the matter.

Uh... He's WAY better than Burke.

A year older than Exum, not same potential, but a sure thing. I hope the Jazz get it done.

Edit: Nearly 2 years older, I just checked. Still. Very young and very talented.

I want Schro, but hell no.

Why not though? Too many question marks around Exum. Will he retain his quickness after the injury? Will it affect his desperately needed confidence? Will he be able to develop a decent offensive game? Will he be good enough within a reasonable time-frame to compete while the team still has its core?

With Schroeder, you get one of the best young PGs in the league who can already produce at a high level. He can probably be signed for a reasonable amount of money, and it makes sense for Atlanta since they can take their time developing Exum behind Teague.

I still think that Exum has a higher ceiling, that's why.

I've followed Schro since he emerged as a prospect. And I'm a fan. I still wouldn't do it.

I'd give Burke and two picks though. That's a pretty decent haul. And Burke would probably be better in their system than he is here. Hawks probably say No.
