Jabari Parker vs Rodney Hood

I have a son that is a Milwaukee fan and is really talking up the Bucks especially after Jabari is back.

I told my son that I am not convinced that Jabari has that much more upside than Hood. Given where the two players were picked in the draft, I don't think Jabari is that much better than Hood, if at all.

Now Hood is 3 years older than Jabari and Jabari's game still can mature. Jabari is longer.

I like having Hood on our team.

Tell your son this is a Jazz household and either you root for them or you'll burn his birth certificate and then call police to have him removed from your home.

A Bucks fan? Really? Trust me - tough love is the way to go on this.

Assuming Jabari is healthy for his career he is going to be really good. He is going to play and be a stretch 4 though not a 2-3 like Hood. Not many people at the 4 can guard him and I think with his added strength and the scheme around him he will be decent at defense.

The problem with Jabari is that he has zero nasty in him, Hood however. . .

Hood is not close to the level of Jabari. Hood might have a few years where he plays at a high level, but Jabari is probably going to be something close to a superstar if he stays healthy.

I'm way less convinced. Defense is still an enormous question mark -- and tearing and ACL doesn't help

I'm with NAOS on this. Jabari wasn't that good defensively to begin with and an ACL tear isn't going to help. I'm not even close to assuming he even sniffs superstar level, it's way too soon.

You didn't raise your son to be a Jazz fan? That's ban worthy.

All I can say is when I watched Duke games to watch Jabari, Hood stood out every time. Honestly, the jury is still out. Parker's been hurt and Hood has shown great promise. As an all around player I pick Hood, and Jabari will be a Carmelo-type scorer at best.
