I would still that Jabari is going on be better than Hood assuming his knee will be fine. I know people really like to rag on Jabari's weight and body, but there is a chance he either gets in better shape or he has a great career with the body he's got anyways. Jabari shows a lot of signs of being a great player. Maybe his defense never comes around, but a lot of players that are considered really good, aren't good at defense. Hood looks like his ceiling is low end Allstar if that. I can't see Hood ever becoming a "Dominant Allstar". Jabari has real franchise player potential. Hood doesnt not. It could turn out they end up about the same though. The first two scenarios are certainly more likely than Hood becoming a franchise player and Jabari an average player.
 
If the Bucks offered Jabari for Hood right now. The Jazz would be crazy stupid to not take it. Knee problem and all. Hood isn't exactly always healthy either btw.

I'm sure this thread will be fun to bump in a couple years. Subscription added.

Maybe/maybe not. His team was way worse on offense and defense when he was in the game last year. At this point it is reasonable to say we might pass on that type of move as Hood is a more proven commodity and Jabari has more questions.

Jabari's body type is just a bit troubling for me. Name a player that carried extra weight his whole career and was an all-star? His metabolism will only get slower. I'd be worried.

I don't think either team is crazy for saying no to this deal.
 
I like two-way players. I've always mocked the love that guys like Carmelo get because they don't typically have what it takes to get you over the top, but they get all the hype anyway. I've never seen much two-way potential in Jabari.

Hood has some big lapses in his defense, but I don't doubt his desire or his physical attributes. I can't say the same for Jabari.

All that said, I think most people would agree that Jabari has a higher ceiling right now overall. But, for me, Hood is surrounded by A LOT less uncertainty. And, he fits really well with our team.

Hood is also 3 years older than Jabari. Jabari was just a teenager last year.

It's way too early to be saying he isn't a good player. There are also a lot of variables that go into why his team was supposedly worse with him on the floor. I see no reason to judge his abilities in his rookie year as a teenager.

At 20 years old, which is Jabari's age now, Hood was averaging worse stats at Mississippi St than Jabari did in the NBA when he was 19.

Never said he wasn't good and I understand the he is young... Just some troubling signs. He may very well end up the better player and he does have a higher ceiling I agree. I just think at this moment in time I prefer the more known commodity. The streets are littered with high draft pick tweener forwards that never reached their potential for one reason or another. We can't pretend that it doesn't have a legitimate chance of happening here.

College basketball is almost a different sport than the NBA. Hood is an exceptional pick and roll player for his age and experience. He did it well in college, but you can't always run a pick and roll against a zone... its just not effective. Hood's game is much better suited for the NBA.

A good example is the 2011 draft with Derrick Williams. One year after being taken second people would have thought it absurd to trade Jimmy Butler (taken 30th) for him. Look how that turned out.

I'm rooting for Jabari... seems like a great kid. Hope he turns into an all-star.

I know what you are saying. Where you are picked doesn't mean much. But Cmon. Jabari is so much of a different player than Derrick Williams. It's not even close.

I'll bet you 500$ dollars Jabari ends up better than Derrick Williams and Rodney Hood.
 
I'm genuinely impressed that nobody has mentioned the fact that Parker is mormon yet. Well done guys.
