What's new

Official UofU homer thread

I'm delighted we're 8-1 and still in the playoff hunt. The week between each game seems like an eternity. I'm pumped about the season, I'm pumped about our D, and I'm pumped about Booker. I'm less enthusiastic about Wilson.

It may be easier to swallow if Wilson were just bad all the time, but every once in a while he looks absolutely brilliant, for a short time, and I'm left to wonder why it can't be like that more consistently.

Also, as long as I'm a complainer, let me throw this out there. I cannot recall a receiver that takes more steps backwards after a catch than Scott.

Yeah he's gotten worse at it this year. It's almost like he's tryin to play more like Covey. Scott ain't a little squirrelly dude, but he doesn't seem to know that.

He tackled him after being beaten, the guy he tackled makes that play without it. A pancake is different than a Tackle/hold. The defender was trying to move away from the O-lineman, not get through him to a RB. When the guy tried to get away the O-lineman tackled him it was an obvious hold.
You saw it different than me. I saw the o-lineman plow into the d-lineman and knock him on his *** and land on top of him

I'm happy we won and are 8-1 but I think it's perfectly reasonable to be a bit concerned about the team, it feels like we've regressed in certain areas. We were aided by a young Washington offense making mistakes in order to put points on the board. We could've had this game over by halftime(the last drive was 4 plays that resulted in a total of 3 yards was one of the worst offensive drives of the season). The 3rd down defense was pretty poor, we gave up a lot of big plays letting Washington extend their drives. Wilson is making plays with his legs but his pass game seems to have regressed even more, and he is still not seeing LB's dropping back in coverage. Overall I'm happy with a big road win but letting teams hang around will probably bite us in the *** by the season is over. Because our offense can flatline at any moment it's just going to continue to put more and more pressure on the defense, I hope they can keep it up but wouldn't be surprised if they eventually wilt under the pressure.

Watch it again his hands were clearly outside where they should have been.
I want to watch it again and maybe you are right. I didn't record the game though so I don't know how to watch it again

Regardless I often see offensive lineman pancake dudes and get called for holding because the ref figures that if they go down with the offensive lineman on top then it must be holding somehow.

Maybe I am wrong but the hold or PI doesn't happen if the refs spot the ball correctly when WA went for it on 4th and 1, the QB IMO never got past the line of scrimmage.

Ya, this drove me crazy. Especially since the other ref had what I thought was the correct spot. Inexcusable that they didn't review it (even though their wasn't a great camera angle to work with.)

I keep forgetting that not being crazy pumped about mediocre QB play equals complaining and not appreciating wins.

Lucky for me I have LOLGLI to remind me. Thanks LOLGLI!

What I'm getting at is people treat Travis like he's Brevin Knight or Jason Hart or something, ruining all of our lives with his suck. I wish he was better, but hating him is weird since we'd be worse without him. I would totally get it if we had any type of promising backup QB that we all thought might do better, and Whitt was Corbin'ing and playing Travis each week. This is not the case obvi.

PS Bronco: go back and read the thread. People aren't acting "not crazy pumped" they are acting like Travis beat up their grandma or something.
