How bad is Kanter?

Yes he has not a starring role and he is highly overpaid. But he is averaging good numbers for the limited minutes he is getting.

Jazz had to trade Kanter but they probably made a mistake with the timing of the trade. Let's hope Jazz management will trade players at the perfect time in future to get a fair return.

Anyway I agree, let's move on.

lol. We got more than fair return for Kanter. Sure, I get it we got two stiffs in return but that future first is more then enough value for the dude that was holding the Jazz from winning games and now doing the same for OKC. Hell, the best part of that trade was that he is OKC's problem now. Had we just given him to OKC for nothing, it's still a lopsided trade in the jazz's favor. I kinda find it funny that even with the results of the trade staring us in the face people still manage to complain about what we got.

I will never understand "We could have got more, DL should have done better" statement. Where the hell are we pulling that from? If anybody knows what other offers were on the table please share. It's like somehow we think GMs don't know as much as fans? Like they don't know that Kanter is a net negative when he is on the floor but we all did? OKC took a risk that they needed to take to show KD that they will do what they need to do bring in players to keep him, they were in a unique situation. I really don't even know if we could have traded him for an type of 1st round pick without OKC being desperate to add talent and add talent now. GMs aren't stupid.

I'm not discussing his trade, that for some reasons was inevitable. But he is playing well enough with OKC.

He's averaging 12.4 points and 8.9 rebounds and doing it in only 21.4 minutes per game.

Sometimes when a player says he wants more minutes, what he really means is he just wants out of town. I think that came to light at the trade deadline last year.

Kanter obviously didn't believe in what DL/QS are trying to do.

In all seriousness - kudos to the author. I really like the idea.

I'm starting to appreciate more and more the value of creating synergies across your starting 5, bench, and overall rotation. If his offensive punch fits better with the starting 5 and his deficiencies defensively cripple the second team, then yes - start him.

It's similar to what we do with Neto, Hood, Burke, and Burks. Our starting 5 is built around smothering defense, which Hood and Neto fit in better with. Conversely, Alec and Trey are aggressive offensive players and really buoy the second unit offensively. End result: they also seem to be thriving in their early season roles.

Unfortunately his peer group of other generational talents include Mitch Richmond, Antawn Jamison, Shareef Abdur-Rahem, and other players who are technically great, yet their teams never, ever win anything substantial with them in a primary contributing role.

I am glad he was traded, I have never liked Kanter. I did not want him and never thought he was good enough to start and wanted him traded long before it happened. I am glad he is not on the team.

With that said we got a bad trade in terms of his value on the open market. At least 2 teams were willing to pay max for him that off season. That means teams would have traded more than a late 1st round pick and filler contracts.

Just because you are okay with what we got "addition by subtraction" does not mean we could not have gotten more or that it was a good trade.

Should have traded him earlier and we could have gotten more for him. Jazz thought the players we got might be better but they are not.

But The Jazz have already eaten one guaranteed contract (albeit minimal) and will probably end up eating another in order to get these two stiffs off the 15 man roster.

DL should have done better.

We got more in return for trading Kevin Murphy than we did in the Kanter trade. Make of that what you will.

pretty hsrd to disagree with these. Pleiss could figure things out, and that would make things look a lot better, but he certainly doesn't look like an NBA player.
