What's new

Official UofU homer thread

When you Ute fans speak of hope, I can't imagine you're thinking playoffs. Because let me speak plainly. Utah has zero chance. Literally.

This is not new information. I'm not sure who you think still believes there's a chance.

Things would have to get pretty bizarre at this point for the PAC to get anybody in.

Hope does not necessarily mean playoffs. In my opinion, the fact that the Utes could still get to the Rose Bowl is a significant thing. That would still be a pretty big deal. They need a little help, but there is still something worth playing for.

Go Oregon. And failing that, go UCLA in a couple of weeks.

Sucks to need help to win the South, but... hey. At least there's a chance.

I'm stil beyond angry at what I saw Saturday night, but here's my attempt to look at the glass half full:

-With Oregon and UCLA looming, I think USC has 1 loss left in them.

-Utah matches up with UCLA light years better than they do with Rich Rod and Zona. Seriously, dude has Whitt's number and it's quite embarrassing.

-Utah can win out. Regardless of what USC does, Utah can finish 10-2 overall, while going 7-2 in conference. If you would have told me that at the beginning of the year, I woulda taken that and ran!

I have a serious hunch that if Utah can take care of business in their last 2 games, they're playing in the PAC 12 title game for a chance at the Roses. Added bonus: A PAC 12 title birth allows 1 extra game for Travis Wilson to give us all an anger stroke.

Good posts.
You guys have the right attitude/perspective

Didn't know you had ties to the playoff committee, if the Utes win the Pac 12 championship than they literally still have a chance with the Pac 12 easily being the deepest conference in the country....that said I don't think we're going either, but to say literally no chance is retarded.

I'm hoping you're right.

At Oregon is no gimme. As bad as Oregon looked for much of the season, they have been playing much better ball lately. Autzen is a tough place to win, especially when Adams is healthy. And USC didn't exactly set the field on fire in Boulder. They may be running out of HeltdrenalinTM.

When (yeah, that's right) Utah beats UCLA, and they subsequently drop out of contention, they should be extra motivated to beat USC, to salvage some pride.

What's going to happen is USC and UCLA both win this weekend, play for the Pac South next weekend, USC beats Stanford in the Pac title game. Then USC goes to the playoffs just purely based on the playoff committee's awe for the greatest college football program of all time.

we only dropped to 13 in the playoff poll, as crazy as it sounds utah is not completely out of it. but it still very unlikely.

wonder if utah will rest booker, i think that may be the way to go since williams and poole look capable.
