Following 2016 potential draftees

"There were just over five minutes left when Dunn reentered the second semifinal of the Wooden Legacy, and he proceeded to show everyone in the country why he was named the NBCSports.com Preseason Player of the Year. Providence had nine possessions after he reentered the game. Dunn scored 11 points and had a pair of assists on those eight possessions, and if Ben Bentil had stuck a wide-open three — that was setup by Dunn — the Friars would have scored on all nine.

In total, Dunn was responsible for all 15 Friar points in a game-changing, 15-7 run in the final 4:30. It was capped off by this Kobe-in-his-prime-esque game-winner...."

"This win sets up a matchup between No. 3 Michigan State and Providence on Sunday night, which means that Denzel Valentine and Kris Dunn — the two best players in the country, sorry Ben Simmons — will be going head-to-head.

Oh. Hell. Yes."

Kris Dunn has been really good, but so far he has been putrid from 3pt land.

He is more like Dennis Schroeder than Rondo since he can score.

No sound minded GM would trade Lyles this early. It'd be a damned concession of regret... It's a fireable offense if a move like that backfires. I've been watching Lyles for some time now, I'm not discouraged by what I see at all.. his game isn't one that a reasonable observer would think could adjust quickly to the league - IMO.. I'm encouraged that Snyder's getting him minutes. Trevor Booker's shooting 28% from the field, why not?

Dunn would be a good fit here, except that one of Trey or Neto would have to get moved.. He's got the tenacity to match Rudy's, and for a defensive team having that at 1 and 5 has plenty of appeal. There are some Marcus Smart elements to his game. Even if he's off the bench and in rotation with Dante, it's a much tougher look.

That being said if you check my last mock, I've dropped him a few spots. He's gotta improve his 3pt shooting for me to put him back in the top-10. He should've declared last year.

Providence was aided by some foolish rotations by Sean Miller in that game. Why start Chance Commanche and play him 2 minutes with Tarczewski out. Triers riding the bench too, they deserved to lose.

Random observations:

-I'm not concerned about Skal's rebounding, these dumb *** knicks fans(and plenty of pundits) used to think Porzingis couldn't rebound either. Those who harp on that with Skal are missing the point anyways. If reboundings really an issue you can flex him to PF easily. Or make sure you have a good rebounding SF and PF. It's not a big deal.

- Villanova would crush some of these bum *** squads they had ranked higher in the pre-season. I've seen enough to have a high degree of conviction about that. Their trending toward a #1 seed quickly. their clearly a step above the rest of the Big East.

- Memphis is no joke, and with their collection of young players and transfers, their ahead of schedule. Dedric Lawson is a very interesting player, he's clearly greater than an Austin Daye type of oversized SF prospect. I kinda like Lawson's game better than Malik Pope.

- Tonye Jekiri (Miami) from the island of Lagos in Nigeria is going to get drafted in the 2nd round, He's a senior but younger than a few Jr's like Kris Dunn. will be interesting to see how he measures(legit 7' in-shoes?). There's an absolute can't miss prospect from Lagos coming thru the pipelines (Texas HS iirc) named Charles "the big ticket" Bassey who reminds me of a young Andre Drummond.

- Isaac Humprhies has been a pretty good shotblocker in his extremely limited minutes.

- Wichita's preseason ranking was such a joke. At least those fans got the Royals. That coach should've went elsewhere and done big-time recruiting, now he's just overpaid.(good in-game coach though)

- It's troubling for Cal, that Rabb and Brown combine for 40pts on 17/25 fg's and lose to Richmond. Young team, and many teams out west are stumbling out of the gates.

-Tyler Lydon is gaining steam quickly. He's just scratching the surface too. I suspect he'll kill it in workouts for NBA teams. He appears to meet most all of the criteria I look for in 1st round picks (for stretch 4's), interested to see how tall he really is, i'd guess 6'9" 59% from three thus far, not bad for the big guy in the middle of the 2-3 zone.. This is not the year to sleep on the Orange.

- Jalen Adams was the best player for UConn in that loss to Cuse. He closed the game furiously and put up stats quickly doing so. One of my favorite under-the-radar players in the country. He's gonna be a damn good player, no doubt about it.

-New Mexico St vs Airforce today - What will Pascal Siakam do next?

26 points, 12 rebounds, 6 blocks and all sorts of plays in winning time, wasn't enough to beat Air Force though. Siakam is hella entertaining to watch. If he can continue to add some explosiveness, he could really end up a serious sleeper. He's worth watching IMO, there's Tanveer Bhullar and Sidy Ndir to watch on that team too, I hope they make the tournament and get a favorable matchup in the first rd.

He's a Sophomore, here's his freshman highlight package.

Also another monster game from Isaac Haas. I was high on him last year tbh, I thought he would've been drafted. He was clearly a better prospect than the 60th pick in the draft, Satnam Singh Bhammara. He's in great shape this year, and a legit 7'2". I hope he kills it in workouts for teams, he's got the size and skill to vault himself up draft boards.

Jarrod Uthoff is decimating Wichita St in the first half. I like him better than Wiltjer tbh.

Looks like the Shockers will be the first team to go from the top-10 to out of the top-25 this season. 51-23 with 16minutes to go

How many more able bodies do we need for next year, assuming Lyles improves some? Two?

Exum-Burke-Neto
Hood-Burks
Hayward-aquisition-Ingles
Favors-Lyles
Gobert-acquistion

So we need a legit 4/5 and a legit 3/4. Doable.

Pleiss is guaranteed next year too. They have the 1st and 2nd round pick and 3 extra 2nd round picks. So finding players to stash would be prudent!! Those 10 deals only add up to 55mil too, so theres plenty of room for FA additions..

I would say Burke can almost play some SG next to players like Exum and Burks, so there might be room for a PG.

I'd also say you could look at a SG to develop because Hood can easily flex to SF, so can Alec.

A 3/4 versatile type near 6'10 that can play on-ball defense would fit IMO.

A 4/5 works. So does a pure 4 as a development project if Lyles shows he's ready for backup minutes by the end of the season. (JONATHAN JEANNE!!)

A pure 5 to develop makes tons of sense too. Good young C's are great pieces to trade for proven vets, there will always be a scarcity of talented 7-footers, many teams don't have even one.. Obviously we've all seen the upside of taking a flier on Gobert. The Jazz are still in a position to horde assets, IMO developing another C to showcase and drum up trade value for behind Rudy, is a no-brainer.

Jazz 2nd round pick Olivier Hanlan has been solid so far for Zalgiris. Here's highlights of his 21 pt game last week. on 7/11 from the floor.

Michigan St vs Providence will be a good game. Is Dunn good enough to put the team on his back and pull off the upset?
