True. But if he's just an average defender, who can defend several positions, then he can be called versatile. Hood is not a bad defender.

He was in college, though. If you go back and watch the pre-draft DX scouting report, they show clips of his poor defensive stance.

We have one Miss. St fan and one Duke fan on this board (the two colleges Hood played at) and both thought he was a bad collegiate defender.

His defense has improved--that's all that really matters. But I do agree with Cy that the article is wrong in painting Hood's defense in a positive light (before reaching the NBA).

Nah, he was actually a good defender at MSU. I doubt anyone scouted him there though. He wasnt even on draft sites radar back then.
 
So this is a thread about how Hood is one of the best in his draft class and jazzfanz is caught up on one line of the article about it saying Hood was a versatile defender. LOL
 
Anyone who thinks Rodney Hood was a viable defender at 4 in college wasn't watching too closely, they could outscore teams easily with that lineup and cause all sorts of mismatches, so they did, it was far from some defensive adjustment though..

Yes, nitpicking.
Love the Jazz' length (when healthy). Having a 6'6" PG and 6'8" SG is huge. While Favors and Hayward aren't really big for their positions, they're not going to be overpowered, either. And Gobert, of course, in the middle.

It was certainly on full display last night. E'Twaun Moore, who's 6'4" ish and started at SF for the Bulls did manage to block Hood on an Iso pull up late in the game though, might've been a foul, ya don't see that much though..
