Story of The Season: Injuries

What a way to (probably) end it. Favors and Gobert both suffer injuries that severely hurt our team. Favors can barely jump or move, making it impossible for him to finish at the rim, rebound, or contest shots at anywhere near his usual level and Gobert is completely taken out of the game.

Our season started with injuries, had some injuries in the middle, and ended with injuries.

At this point I can't even be mad we missed the playoffs (it would have been a blood bath with a hobbled Gobert/Favors), I'm just mad we never got to see our team fully healthy. Right when Burks comes back, Favors/Gobert get injured. It's just ridiculous. What did we do as Jazzfanz to deserve this?

Gotta say.. I called it during the offseason.. Can't fool me with some silly cake-baking logic..

They set this team up so that if injuries happened they could pull the plug..

In the biggest game of the season they paraded a bunch of players that make near the minimum on the court in the 4th q..

A combination of inexperience, injuries, and maybe not being quite good enough.

Rudy needs to get a lot better, our point guards suck, Rodney Hood is extremely streaky, Alec needs to stay on the court.

Fave and Hayward, no complaints (but I do find GH a tad overrated).

That lineup was painful. Even more painful was Joe Ingles, the only player who was cooking from deep, passing up open shots.

I was screaming when he passed up shots, the fact that we'd missed a bunch of 3's before probably made him hesitate.
Realistically in any professional sport when 40-50% of your main players are injured and you're young and inexperienced you're really shovelling sh**t uphill to achieve anything. I still think they learned a bunch about who's who and what will happen moving forward, i think they did well considering all that's happened. Experience counts, especially in the NBA. Next year was always going to be the significant jump, i just think that now it'll be a huge jump depending what happens with trades/draft etc.

Yep, no bench. And I get plastered for suggesting we should do something about that during the offseason. Nope, most feel we're just fine as is. Withey is a stud who just needs playing time. No need for another wing because Ingles and CJ are great behind our main three. Exum coming back will resolve the PG situation, because Neto is going to be amazing. Players get hurt. Good teams have decent depth. Jazz have gone cheap again (28th payroll in the league). I'm convinced Lindsey had little intention of making the playoffs. He wants another lottery pick.

Outside of injuries, it's apparent that our bench is full of fringe talent getting too many minutes because of said injuries.

Burke, Withey, CJ... no reason to keep these guys around.

What a season. I'm hoping for a little Lindsey magic with the 1st and a solid veteran signing this offseason. We really screwed ourselves by betting on ourselves as Dennis put it.

We can take BPA in the draft which is the smart thing to do, but we really need some outside shooting off the bench.
