Move On From Hayward?

Barnes is shooting like 80% in the first quarter in this series. There is no telling what the kid could do if his minutes weren't so limited. And comparing him to Hayward isn't really all that fair. If Barnes was given the green light to completely run a team like Hayward, where would his stats be? If Hayward was fighting for time with Thompson, Iggy, Livingston, Curry, Barbosa and others, where would his stats be?

If Barnes was in the East as a starter, he'd be a borderline All Star. Are you watching the Finals? He's 15-28 with 15 rebounds without getting the chance to play consistent minutes. This season, he averaged 12ppg, 5pg and 2apg in 31mpg. Hayward averaged 20ppg, 5rpg and 3.7apg in 36 mpg. I love Jazz players, but we get a little bit too enamored with them.
He is also being guarded by a 4 or 5 most of the time

Are you kidding me? Have you actually watched him play? He's not anywhere near as good as Hayward. He's probably a little better than DeMarre Carrol.

I don't think Barnes is better than Hayward. I do however feel that Barnes could play a similar role in our offense. Both guys can play multiple positions and both do everything pretty well. Hayward is a better facilitator and Barnes is a better shooter.

Most importantly, I would be willing to pay Barnes $15-18 million a year a hell of a lot quicker than paying Hayward $23+ a year. Since neither is star, neither deserves star money.

Replace Hayward with Barnes and we lose at least 5 more games this season then we did, easily.

Lol. My favorite part was the guy saying that this team as currently constituted without Hayward is a playoff roster. So we lose Hayward and improve?

Lol.
I think he was saying lose Hayward, have burks and exum back healthy and lyles and gobert improve and favors improves and Gobert and favors don't miss as many games = we could make the playoffs. (Then you add the #3 pick and a few free agents to the mix too and I think we would be better)

Barnes is the beneficiary of playing with the two players that have the most gravity in the league and one of the best passing/playmaking forwards. Wherever he goes next he will disappoint.

I'm not in favor of replacing Hayward with Barnes, but I am in favor of the coaching staff moving on from thinking that every critical play needs to go through Hayward. Hayward is not a closer. No coffee for him.

Barnes does everything pretty well?

Why are his PnR #'s so bad? Why does he struggle creating his own shot? Why has he never shown the ability to create for others? Lmao at him doing everything pretty well. He does 3 things at an average to above average clip, that's it.

There is only one person in the world this gung ho on Harrison Barnes. I think we all know who that is.

I understand I'm new here. I also see now that I'm the only one who thinks Barnes is a good NBA starter at 3 years in the league and 24 years old. I also see that some people think that Hayward is the 2nd coming of Scottie Pippen. This same guy could simply walk away this time next year with us having no Barnes or even 40 year old Raja Bell for that matter.

I try to create solutions before we screw ourselves. It's what I do. I was all in on the Wes Matthews deal although Utah fans discounted his worth and applauded the Raja Bell move. I thought we should have traded AK over 2 years before his contract ran out because he had more value in a trade than to Utah and we needed a pure wing at the time. I wanted to trade Boozer before losing him for just an exception. I called the Deron Williams trade because it got us something instead of losing him for nothing. I'm okay with guys like CJ Miles because they are role players. I'd rather pay an inconsistent guy like that $4 a year than an inconsistent injury concern like Alec Burks more than double that. I think Lyles is the future of our post with Gobert instead of Favors. I feel that if a players doesn't do anything at an elite level, then you don't give him a max contract in 2017.

Hayward is better than Barnes without a doubt. But Barnes would be very nice to have if Hayward strolls over to the biggest contract offer like he did so quickly a couple years ago.
