Last year he averaged less points, less assists, less rebounds, less blocks, and less steals, shot a worse field goal %, worse efg%, and worse three point % and got to the line less than the year before (all per 36)

Hayward did take a big step forward except for last minute possessions where he still throws the ball away.Jazz need to play faster this year and I think you'll really see what Hayward and Hood can do

Well at first I thought he took a small step back offensively, but then I realized that is simply not possible for Hayward. Then you provided some really good info that cemented it in my mind that Hayward took a step forward.

He may never be a super star, but he is the closest thing the jazz have, if he needs more help, they better get it for him.

It seems like this article is doing some speculation too. I didn't read one quote from Hayward wanting to play with a better PG. Of course, any NBA player wants to play with better players so why wouldn't Hayward, the only thing I've ever heard from Gordon is how he needs to get better.

I am a big fan of Gordon, I think he gets way too much criticism and I hope he remains a Jazzman for life.

So, decrease in FG %, 3pt %, FT attempts down (slight increase in percentage) isn't a step back? He made .4 more points on .7 more shots. He was less efficient last year. Like I said earlier, it was a small step back. Probably more indicative of those around him than it is of him though.

Yep. A few Spurs' guys did this for years. Hayward needs to recognize the importance of that. If he, Gobert, Favors, Hood, and Exum each end up taking about 4M less per year than they could make elsewhere, that's 20M freed up so that everyone can be re-signed and/or the bench can be solidified. Seriously, is it gonna kill him to make 26M per year rather than 30M? Dude will still likely rake in over 250M in just NBA contracts alone by the time he retires (maybe even 300M) and be set. And that selflessness can help build a trust and camaderie that can build something special on the court imo.
