I realize that there may be some disappointment that the Jazz were not more active in the free-agent market. But when I see the types of salaries being thrown at players who are in my opinion marginal and are unlikely to do much to move the needle in terms of making the team competitive, such as Byombo, Mozgov, Turner, I am glad that the jazz did not get caught up in this insanity. (yes I realize that the salary cap increase needs to be taken into account and look at how much money some of these free agents got, but I still think the teams massively overpaid for some of these free agents and are going to be regretting it down the line when they see that these free agents haven't really changed their fortunes much.) I am satisfied with the acquisitions so far and I am glad the Jazz didn't overspend and thus limit our ability to resign our key core members down the road. I would still like to try to see the jazz sign a stretch center. But if this is all that happens during the free agency., I'm pretty satisfied with the outcome relative to what a lot of the other teams are doing. As I've noted before, our starting lineup was not the problem last year, but our problem was the bench. And with the acquisition of Hill and Johnson we have substantially strengthened our bench added depth added shooting and added veteran experience. I am confident with what we have we are poised to make a run next year for a good playoff seeding if all falls into place while also retaining the flexibility to re-sign Hayward and Favors and Gobert down the road.
