Do the Jazz have any top-5 players at their respective position?

Of all the players mentioned, there's no doubt in my mind Gobert is top 5. Goberts and Whiteside's stats were similar, but it was clear just watching the game who the better player was. I'm not sure the Jazz have a winning record without him.

Too many stat watching armchair NBA fans, who don't actually watch the games. Gobert's impact is immense but it doesn't always show in the statline (despite him getting a +22 last night). Gobert made Whiteside and the Heat his bitch. All I need to hear is someone who would take Whiteside over Gobert and I know they're a damn fool.

Good points. CBS Sports had an article about the "slow-starting" Jazz. Stat watchers only look at overall records to evaluate a team and PPG to evaluate players.

I think all 5 of our starters are top-10 with a few certainly in the discussion for top-5. But when you have that kind of balance, none are going to post eye-popping stats. Hood could easily average 20+ pts, as could Hill. Hayward could settle in the 25/per range. Favors might be able to be a 20/10 player if he were featured (when healthy). But Utah shares the ball. That makes for a better team, but hurts individual numbers.

Favors, Hayward and Gobert are close. In the next 2-3 seasons all could easily be top-5. Rudy will never have Elite numbers or look better than some of the other centers 'on paper' but if he continues to cause defensive disruptions at a higher clip his real value will be higher than some of the other elite centers.

Stat watchers in the NBA are pretty accurate though. People worship Gobert because of his advanced stats.

I think Gobert is definitely top 5. Hayward is like Thompson imo. Top 5 on the right team in the right system. (I think we can provide that for him finally)

I can't wait to see this team fully healthy. Floor further spread with both Hill and Hayward. More room for Rudy and Favors to attack the middle. More opportunities for Hayward to penetrate and dish. His APG are going to go even higher. His efficiency will rise as defenses can no longer key on him so much. When AllStar game rolls around, I hope coaches will discount the isolation scorers from bad teams and vote for someone who makes his team better every time he steps on the floor. I think Hayward can get to 6+ APG and be second only to LeBron among SFs. His all-around game is amazing, glad he is disproving all the naysayers who said he'd be only a third option.

One could argue that Hood has a decent claim for the 4th spot in the SG rankings with Harden moving to PG..
