What's new

Grizzlies @ Jazz, 7:00pm MT, (1900 hrs) Game 49

He's about the only one who played worth a damn on the bench today. Ingles was hot garbage tonight, but not the sort of garbage Lyles was.

Hopefully some rest will do this team well. They need it, and a good kick in the ***.

they just had a couple days off !!

you're happy with today's backup PG having five turnovers and ZERO assists ??

Jazz core is nothing without a healthy Favors. Sorry y'all.

They had one day off.

No, he needs to take care of the ball better, but at least he didn't disappear like Ingles did after the 1st quarter.

Shooting 80% from the floor isn't bad either.

Memphis had zero days off and a late flight. AB is a very talented offensive player, but i'm yet to be convinced he plays winning basketball at both ends. I hope he proves me clearly wrong over the second half of the season. One thing i really hope he does is just shoot every time he's open for 3, his shooting is terrific.

I went to sleep angry, and I woke up angry. This game pissed me off as it should have.

****. I want this team to pull together so bad. To see a shorthanded Memphis team with little rest come in
and take us the woodshed hurts. Rudy was destroyed until near the end when he did make a few plays.
He got eaten alive. So did Hill, and a lot of the team on defense.

Didn't get to watch the game. Looking at the box score and i see that lyles got to start and play 21 minutes and had ZERO points.
Boris diaw played 18 minutes and had ZERO points.
WTF!!!!

Seems like burks needs more minutes..... but so does joe ingles. Our wings are so deep that its going to be tough to juggle minutes. Burks, Hood, JJ, Ingles and obviously hayward, all need and deserve minutes.

Looking closer..... our power forwards (diaw and lyles) this game played 39 minutes and ZERO points, TWO rebounds, ZERO blocks, and ZERO free throw attempts.
Meanwhile they let memphis power forward (randolph) have a season high in points. and gasol played really well too.

What a game to miss favors. Damn.

and what a game for those two players to **** the bed.

Diaw couldnt hit a damn thing. He was wide open every time.

Power forward has certainly become a real worry. I don't feel particularly comfortable with anyone there at the moment.

I do wish Withey could at least get some minutes to spell Gobert when Favors isn't playing (or even when he is now and then).

lol you haven't entertained the thought that Alec despite his obvious gifts isn't a good fit for this team's structure and style ? I think Jingles has proved far more complimentary and effective with the other players than Alec.

So you want to bring back Mack? I thought you had cried all your tears over him.

I was at the game last night. It was a very frustrating game. I can't quite put my finger on the regression, but it seemed like we shot a ton of jump shots, and they shot a ton of high percentage shots. Conley Zbo and Gasol ate us alive. We are reasonably healthy now, and it feels like we everybody is down 10% from their peak. It wasn't the reason for the loss, but the refs had 2 particularly bad stints. One in the second qtr, and another in the 4th. We got called for a 3 or 4 ricky tacky fouls, then it was not equal on the other end. In the 4th there was an out of bounds that was an obvious miss, then GH got fouled on a 3 that was not called. We played from behind the whole game and those calls didn't make the difference imo.

Alec was a great spark. There were times when he and Hill were the only ones who could get a basket. I did notice that Alec was in attack mode which was a blessing and a curse. He would take on the several players, but he usually converted. If I were to guess, his 3s were within the offense and a couple of the other attempts were pretty much head down iso. Some of these were what ended up being TOs. The frizz could see he wasn't going to pass and exploited. I was disappointed Hayward and Rudy didn't get more going offensively. Rudy shot a lot of FTs, but we really needed him to get a couple of dunks and easy ones inside that just weren't there. It made the Grizz able to tighten the perimeter coverage and keep us shooting mid range while the middle was shut down.

Snyder seemed to be in deep thought all game. I'm sure he is racking his brain right now for a solution.

The defense was pourous. They ran multiple screens and moved the ball well to put us in a scramble that led to a lot of easy buckets. Zbo and Gasol hit a lot of tough shots in iso situations, along with the Gasol 3s that kept Rudy at bay a bit. I believe they scored after every timeout. David Tizdale called one at every run the Jazz made, and these possessions seemed to end a most if not all of those runs. It was very demoralizing.

I cherry picked a little bit so bare with me.....
In games that Burks has played at least 10 minutes this season (7 games total) his numbers are as follows:
17.4 minutes per game
11.4 points per game
2.7 rebounds per game
0.7 assists per game
27-46 from the field (59%) (6.5 attempts per game)
6-15 from 3 (40%) (2.1 attempts per game)
20-28 from the line (71%) (4 attempts per game)
1.1 turnovers per game (he had 5 last night.... if you remove that game then only 0.5 per game. He has 1 or less turnovers in every other game this season.)

I wish i knew how to make those numbers per 36 but i think they would be pretty darn good for a dude coming back from missing 87 of the last 131 games.

I dont know how to get the per 36 numbers for just the games that he played over 10 minutes but his per 36 for all games this season are as follows:
21.2 point per game (53% from the field on 14 attempts, 35% from three on 4 attempts, 67% from the line on 8 attempts)
4.7 rebounds
1.4 assists
2.1 turnovers

I like Faves, I think he's still only about 75% but he's getting there. As far as Withey, I wish we had somebody a little scrappier like a Koufos or an Aldrich. I've never seen any big get stripped of the ball as much as he does.

Favors plays a huge roll on this team. On defense we need him down low.
Offensively we run a lot of sets through him.

I wished DFAV could have suited up I have a feeling it may have changed the outcome.
