Casspi on the block?

With less playing time these days, Kings second-year forward Omri Casspi made it clear he would welcome a new opportunity next season.

"I know that there are many teams, including some playoff teams, that want me ahead of next season," Casspi said. "I hope to find myself in a team that appreciates me as a player and a person, a team that plays like a team.

"I haven't played in a while and coach came up to me and told me he's going in different direction – and he's not going my direction," Casspi said. "So I'm not mad at nobody or trying to cry about not playing, but it is what it is."

Off the top of my head, I think he'd be a nice player to have considering his age, experience, and things he has brought to the table (I admit I have not followed him closely this year). Is he worth pursuing and what might it cost?

I proposed a trade a few days ago for casspi. He is young and would be a great bench talent. My proposal was part of a trade for harris

I have a hard time buying into players who look good on terrible teams. I'm not saying I wouldn't want him; just don't over trade. Can you tell AK's contract haunts me?

Casspi's not a star, though. Players that play hard, rebound, hit 3s, and defend almost always translate. That's what he was last year anyway. The Israeli Matt Harpring is how I've heard him described.

If the Kings our really hurt for Cash they might ask us to trade Memo and his insurance paid contract for a combo of either Udrich or Garcia with Casspi possibly with a little cash added. I do think Casspi would be a great long term piece, I like Gallenari better but Casspi is as close as your get to Gallenari. But depending on the deal I either love it or hate it! Like Evans for Casspi ='s love it. Miles for Casspi ='s hate it. Plus, I'd like to see who Utah drafts to and if they resgin AK as well

Summary of his stats for the 2 years he's been in the league below:

Year Team G GS MPG FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
09-10 SAC 77 31 25.1 0.446 0.369 0.672 1.0 3.6 4.5 1.2 0.7 0.2 1.27 1.62 10.3
10-11 SAC 70 27 24.3 0.413 0.374 0.673 1.1 3.3 4.4 1.1 0.8 0.2 0.97 1.63 8.7
Career-- 147 58 24.7 0.431 0.372 0.673 1.0 3.4 4.5 1.1 0.7 0.2 1.13 1.63 9.5

So he's good for 9.5 pts, 4.5 rebs, 1 assists on a pretty bad team which is "OK" I guess..

What concerns me a bit is that he is that while he is not an offensive force off the dribble, he's not really a lights out shooter neither at 37% from the 3 pointer (but that's not bad neither). He also isn't a strong defender. Moreover, while his minutes hasn't diminished over the 2 years, his stats haven't improved at all across the board. You're not seeing the growth you'd expect from his rookie campaign.

I think he has yet to carve out a niche for himself in this league - can the Jazz see something in him that we don't? Possibly. Can Horny work with him on this 3 point game? May be. But to me he doesn't have that "fire to succeed" attitude, or even the skills and athleticism that I currently see in Hayward... so on that basis I wouldn't pursue him (yet).

Will the Kings take Bell, Miles, Okur, and a car dealership for Omar and DeMarcus?
Xthren, can you get on that next time you talk to their FO?

As long as it is like a Mercedes, BMW, or something like that. I dont think they will take Ford or Chevy.

I haven't seen much of him. Can someone fill me in on his strengths/weaknesses? What would he bring to the table? Trade him for Bell or CJ?

Bell would be a no brainer and with the way CJ has played lately yes. Plays a little sporadically at times though.

They play football in Israel?

Um, yeah.
