You are Kevin O'Connor. How do you get a center?

Look, the draft is over. It is what it is. Like it or hate it, we drafted a 3. That leaves us with the glaring hole at the 5 spot we had before the draft began. Memo is a question mark. He'll probably be back, but you can't really count on it, or on what he'll be able to do when he returns. Fesenko is a free agent. Kosta is the only big man we currently have under contract, and he has been unimpressive for us thus far on the court.

You are now Kevin O'Connor. As presently constituted, what moves do you make to get us a center? Talk about trades, free agents -- anything. I'd like to hear some ideas about how YOU, reading this, would get us a center.

Tell Sloan to play them. Utah has two noninjured players who are already tall enough to play center, and one of them had the best +/- on the team against the Lakers.

Just don't bring back Boozer. He's not a center, but Sloan will be too tempted to play him as one when Millsap comes in.

Fesenko will be a great help...when he realises basketball is a profession and not a distraction.

David Thorpe used to be heavily on the Fes bandwagon, seems to have died off now that he has realised that Fes is an adolescent.

ok, this is off-topic, but Slappfisk, I love your Batboy avatar!

now to answer the question...

with a good batch of chocolate chip cookies

1- Overpay Fesenko 4 years 24 mill seems about right
2- SIgn & trade Boozer for Brad Miller!!!!
3- Find Ben Handgloten

Dude was a complete shill because Fes was one of his clients. He actually said Fesenko had the best work ethic he has ever seen. C'mon, I like Fes, but that can't be even close to the truth.

Brendan Haywood, but Jazz will need to overpay for him.
Darko Milicic played solid for Minesota in second part of season ( altough in garbage games ).Maybe he is worth one year chance...
Some trade with Orlando to get Gortat.
Really, not many options...:(

1. Book the Euro Vacation Listed above.
2. Tell Deron to go find a center that he wants, that would come to Utah. And then report back on July 10th.

And Sloan will be a great help when he realizes that a player's effectiveness is measured by in-game team impact, not necessarily by effort or individual stats or practice.

Fes, despite being a underdeveloped, a goof-off, and a low scorer, was already better than the alternatives at the 5 spot for 10-20+ MPG.

Maybe we could work a sign and trade Boozer to Orlando for say Gortat and Pietrus / Redick? That leaves us really overstaffed with wings ... possibly another sign and trade of Korver or ... for one of the rookie bigs that was just drafted?

I would trade Boozer straight up for Gortat if that was possible.

I think the Magic might be willing to do Gortat/Bass + someone else for Boozer.

I imagine KOC is looking into a S&T with Boozer (still like something along the lines of getting Dampier and Beaubois from Dallas) or using Harpring's TPE (e.g. Gortat or Foster). What about using part of the MLE for J. O'Neal?
