Farewell to Andrei

Didn't The Jazz give Harpring about 7 mil per his last 2 seasons?

My God, 5 mil for Kirilenko 22mpg off the bench is a friggin bargain - I'd take it in a second.

If it was a choice between AK @ 5 mil, and CJ @ 3.7 million I think Id rather have Miles. But I wouldnt really care either way, as long as we dont keep both.

I agree with this. One of them needs to move on. I prefer Miles just because he is younger. Would not be upset either way. Also I prefer Cj because he is less inclined to whine if and when Hayward plays over him.

AK at 3 mil? The guy is an MLE player at least. My guess is the Jazz try the lowball route to see how interested he is in staying. That would still take 5 mil per at a minimum. And my guess is there will be contenders looking to find ways to up the annual for a shorter deal, like 3 @ 21 plus. Injuries notwithstanding, this board is the only place that doesn't understand his worth. NBA GM's all know what a valuable addition he would be.

While I agree with everything you say here. I think it's time for this organization to move on. I believe it's in the best interests of both parties to part ways.

I heard KOC on clean out day and he said he wants AK back. I bet he will offer AK a three year 21 million deal. AK has played over 20,000 minutes, but he has played a lot of International ball minutes. Let's face it, no matter what we offer him, he's only a 60 game player.

Take it for what its worth but Locke was saying today that AK told Larry Miller a couple years back to completely re structure his contract, trade him or let him go overseas but for some reason it never fell through. AK wants to stay here and Locke thinks AK will want to repay this Jazz and will probably except a contract lower than 5 mil.

I didn't know the guy is Japanese. Did he really feel shamed about not living up to his contract? Get a ****ing samurai sword, AK. Or, play your *** off and feel sad about dead Larry when you die too.

Miller never gave a bonus to a player who exceeded his contract. AK doesn't owe him a dime either.

This is my take on the whole Andrei situation:

Selfishly, I want him resigned because he makes us better. And if we got the right deal to keep him, I'd take it.

But because I love Andrei, I'd like to see him go. Unlike other people, I greatly appreciate his worth as a basketball player.

So I'd like to see him sign with a real contender to finish his career. I really believe he could be a key component to a team winning a championship. He's so much better than most people here think he is. And I'd like to see him go out that way.

Whatever. I'm a Billy fan.

Great post. Thanks Billy.

I would love for us to face AK in another uniform. We'd have a free defender to help out on other guys. And we'd be able to count on his 3 turnovers of driving recklessly into the lane flailing his arms while losing the ball and yelling AIII! The other games we'd be injured for... And offensively all our SF would have to do is pumpfake and drive in for a layup.

Facing AK on another team is actually pretty darn enticing.

Here's how I think about it.

-AK plays in about 60 games or so it seems every season.

-He plays well in about half of those game.

So how much is a guy who plays well in 30 games worth? The answer for me is not 5 million dollars. I would personally rather cut ties.
