General NBA Craziness and How it Applies to Utah

I don't see it for the Lakers. Seems too risky, obviously trying to move for George, but all that's guaranteed is a year of him and then free cap space going into next season. Just moved their most promising player imo and will have to move more if they want George this season as well (though waiting a year and going for both he/LeBron in free agency is an option).

Also side benefit is the FU to Boston... Lakers may be good enough with Lopez (who is an okay player) to take the pick higher than 5. Russell being off the court helps them win more too... just young and not ready yet.

I think Ainge got too cute... really hope Hayward doesn't go and make him look smart.

With Pau opting out and giving the Spurs some cap flexibility, they might pursue CP3.

True... would need to stretch Parker I think. CP3 will have a huge salary.

Sean Marks has done an incredible job as Brooklyn's GM given the ****show he was placed into. Great trade for the Nets imo.

Good for the Jazz too so it makes it even better.

Both LA teams positioning to get LeBron next year. The Lakers free up cap room next summer by this move. The Clips bring in Jerry West to entice LeBron. The interesting part for me is Chris Paul. Does he believe Jerry West will help create a winner and entice LeBron to come to the Clips? If so, he stays put. His timing is one year off from joining with LeBron.

Is it better for the Jazz for Chris Paul to stay put so the Spurs don't get a lot better or is it better for the Jazz for him to stay with the Clips which allows the Spurs to dangle big money for Hill?

I really doubt that Hill lost anything by keeping his options open. Utah will still likely offer him the same deal they did before.

Depends... I think they offered 3/88... I don't think we need to go above 4/80 now... He lost some dough and it would have gave him a bonus of $13M that he'd have in his pocket right now. Money now is better than money later.

I think this will be one of the most insane of seasons we've ever seen.

Looking at the trade objectively, I love it for both sides. Lopez acts as both cap relief and a backup plan in the event they strike out on their grander scheme, Nets pick up a promising young player that they desperately need.

As a Jazz fan, I'm not sure how to feel. On the one hand, it seems like Hill's market is drying up and that's awesome. On the other hand, I'd really like PG to be in play in such a way that the Jazz end up with something out of it (him or Love), and this seems to muddy that up. And perhaps most importantly, absolutely **** the Lakers.

**** is happening... we need a thread... aint nobody checking general NBA.

Lakers just moved Russell and Mozgov for Lopez and #27

PG destinations are closing everywhere. Hill is down to SA, Sac, and Us imo.
Why the **** did the Lakers do that? Just to dump mozgov I guess?

Really?

1 - they got the best actual NBA player in the deal.
2 - they were about to have a logjam at PG.
3 - they will have a lot more cap space next season and be able to sell as this move signals (and they are the Lakers so having actual cap space matters a lot).
