General NBA Craziness and How it Applies to Utah

I think this will be one of the most insane of seasons we've ever seen.

Looking at the trade objectively, I love it for both sides. Lopez acts as both cap relief and a backup plan in the event they strike out on their grander scheme, Nets pick up a promising young player that they desperately need.

As a Jazz fan, I'm not sure how to feel. On the one hand, it seems like Hill's market is drying up and that's awesome. On the other hand, I'd really like PG to be in play in such a way that the Jazz end up with something out of it (him or Love), and this seems to muddy that up. And perhaps most importantly, absolutely **** the Lakers.

**** is happening... we need a thread... aint nobody checking general NBA.

Lakers just moved Russell and Mozgov for Lopez and #27

PG destinations are closing everywhere. Hill is down to SA, Sac, and Us imo.
Why the **** did the Lakers do that? Just to dump mozgov I guess?

Really?

1 - they got the best actual NBA player in the deal.
2 - they were about to have a logjam at PG.
3 - they will have a lot more cap space next season and be able to sell as this move signals (and they are the Lakers so having actual cap space matters a lot).

I was thinking Robin rather than brook for some reason.

So when will the Lebron trade rumors start? He is clearly upset and it sounds like he is leaving Cleveland after this season is over. I think there are at least trade rumors that start up. There are about 5 teams that could compete with GS if you add Lebron to them even if for just one year. Although if a team wins a chip with Lebron and it looks like they will repeat he will stay. Dan Gilbert is dumb and Lebron does not like him.

What?

They offered him a $13M bonus this year. He obviously isn't getting that anymore.

They can offer him an extra year now. I'll guarantee Utah isn't going to tell him tough ****, now we are going to offer you less out of spite because you hurt our feelings. If they have a chance to re-sign him, they aren't going to **** around.

Besides that, people assume his agent is to blame because he/they wanted more money, when it's just as likely he wanted to see what Hayward would do before committing, and to see what other choices he might have to play for a contender.

Cleveland will not trade LeBron. Wont happen. They can't get enough back and receiving team would be gutted.

I predict PG for Clarkson, Randle and #27.

Ball
George
Ingram
LBJ

In 2018

This offseason is great. Having no hope really loosens the ties of GM's. Lol.

"Well, we won't win anyways, so let's make some headlines."

Fantastic stuff.

Why would LeBron want to go to Lakers
No matter what kind of team they surround him with he may not ever get to the finals
If he stays in the the East he will at worst keep getting to the finals and have a chance

You are assuming Dan Gilbert is a reasonable owner. He is very petty and if he thinks Lebron will leave again he will trade him even if its not a bad trade. Then get drunk and write another silly letter embarrassing himself. Rumors are he got rid of their GM to put Lebron in his place.

Good point. Still think it depends on Butler deal and Cavs success in 2018 playoffs. Butler, Kyrie and LBJ is a damn good big 3.

That's nice and all but that wasn't the narrative... all the signs pointed to he wanted and thought he'd get closer to the max or somewhere in the 100-125 range. We will now have the leverage. While I won't say we will completely low ball him it is bad business to bid against yourself. Rudy took a little less than the max... we negotiated with Hayward fairly tough the first time around.

End of the day I don't think he gets 4/90... I'm comfortable around 4/80 in the current market and he may have to take less than that. He lost money... agent's jobs are in part to make sure they don't lose money.

If they get PG13 without losing much and then add Lebron I think they can compete with GS. They would also add a couple of vet min players chasing chips who are under paid.

Clarkson/Ball
Paul George/Nick Young
Lebron/Ingram
Randle/Nance
Brook Lopez/Zubac

Thats an okay lineup. Obviously a couple of those players might be gone and a couple more solid vets would be added. They also could package some of those young players for other stars. They could trade Ingram, Randle and Ball for another star or a few really good players. Teams are going to keep dumping and trying to rebuild since it seems a lot of teams are unwilling to make a run right now.

Although I could see Lebron taking MLE next off season with one of the better teams just to beat GS.

Nope, there was more than one narrative, and Hill said himself his decision depended on what Hayward would do. I mean, if you would rather believe what some reporter claimed over what Hill said himself, that's your prerogative, but that bit of info is in now way more legitimate than what Hill said himself.

Either way, everybody is an expert with hindsight. Same ole Jazzfanz.

Hill probably blames his agent for not knowing he would be injured constantly after they turned down the extension.
