Summer League Notes And Discussion

Mitchell looked pretty much perfect. I even liked how engaged he was while sitting on the bench. You could tell he was constantly talking basketball with his teammates. Seems like a leader.

Played great on both ends.

Exum had a great game too. Got to the rim well, started out hitting the outside shot. Made some nice passes.
I still don't feel confident in his offense when watching him but...... I'm consistently blown away by his defense and his defense alone should get him minutes as he develops offensively. And that speed will get a few buckets each game on run outs, steals starting fast breaks, and a couple half court blow by's every game.

Liked what I saw big time.

I liked bradley size and had a really nice game albeit quieter.

Bolomboy kinda stunk.

Fun game all around and very encouraging.

The thing with Bradley that stood out is he keeps the ball high when he catches it, which is a huge skill to have. He also had a couple of decent blocks which was nice to see since he wasnt a prolific shot blocker in college.

He just really needs to add strength. If he can get his body right he can be a force down low with his length. Seemed like whenever he tried to post up he just got knocked off balanced a bit too easy, which is to be expected from one of the youngest rookies in the NBA.

Just summer league and one game but I can't remember a rookie looking that impressive in his first summer league game in like ever. Haven't seen Ball yet but so far the best players I've seen are Mitchell at #13 and Adebeyo at #14.

I don't recall a Jazz rookie looking that good in his first game.

in regard to NWG, i have to wonder if they are giving the keys to Exum in SLC and then will hand them over to NWG in Vegas.

Mitchell could be a killer. Love his hesitations and confident step backs. Really like how calmly he finishes around the rim. He reads the game well and makes athletic plays look easy. Great anticipation on the steals. Decent pocket pass to Bradley too.

That's for sure. Best performances I recall were Hood a couple of years ago against Milwaukee in Vegas and Burkes in 2013 in Orlando, but they din't happen first game, and truthfully it was just scoring exhibitions not displaying the full package like this kid has.

Yeah I hope that's the case. I hope they give this kid a fair shake.

On another note, Wallace looked pretty good and had spot minutes at the three. Hope they bring in another vet (free agency) though if Hayward decides to walk. I got no problem with Ingles starting as long as he has a good backup (like Ingles was).
