What's new

What about Favors and Burks?

Been reading through the threads and almost everyone has given up on Favors, and people seemed to have forgotten Burks exists. Well, there was a time when a lot of people here thought Burks would eventually be better than Hayward. Yes, he has regressed but that has been because of his injuries, same with Favors. What's their status? We aren't hearing anything about either one. Might they come back this season, healed and ready to return to form? That could be as important to the Jazz as any trades they might make. Also, Quinn will have to retool the offense. It will be fun watching Jingling guard Hayward. Physically, Jingling matches up well with him. Also, I expect Rudy will be a monster next year. Can't wait. Things aren't so bad. We are strong at the point and young with Rubio and Exxum. We have a stud combo guard in Mitchell. And we will have guys who will be healed with a burning desire to show that they are back -- Favors and Burks. Our glass has been emptied of Hayward; time for a new refill.

Especially not over Mitchell. Good luck with the time machine though.

No hope in them at all. I won't let the Hayward decision cloud my judgement into thinking they'll be anything worth keeping or building around.

We've forgotten about Favors and Burks because they can't stay healthy.

I think it would be easier if it was only health. The word around the jazz was they were willing to move both players to keep Goldie happy. Jazz are going to need to do some repair work.

I really like denis, and I would hate to have his job.

I have hope for Favors - when he was healthy, he and Rudy were a force of nature on defense. Plus he's still only 25 years old. I'd probably try to rehab Burks value and flip him at the deadline for cap space or somebody else's contract. I think Hood, Exum and Mitchell are our long-term options for the 2 guard spot. Can not even emphasize how important it was that the Jazz got Rubio for the OKC pick and cap space now that Hayward is gone. Gobert is an All NBA stud. Rubio and Favors have both been borderline all star guys.

Burks was in Salt Lake watching the Summer League team for what it's worth. Not really sure if bridges have been burned there. Haven't heard a peep about Favors though.

Kind of think Favors is ready to move on. At least, that was kind of what he alluded to when he talked earlier this year about there not being enough money to go around. Maybe things will look a little different now.

Really hoping he can bounce back from his injuries. Offense may look entirely different with Rubio to consistently get him good looks. That has to be one of the major knocks against Hill, his inability to consistently get bigs involved in the offense early. Favors plays so much better when he gets early looks and touches.

You do know that Burks is one of Rudy's best buds, in fact maybe his best friend on the Jazz.

I really dont want to watch Alec Burks play in a Utah Jazz uniform.

Well, Burks has looked lost out there since his injury and it may in part have to do with Hayward. Burks has been deferring to almost everyone since his injury, especially with the offense being more and more built around Gordon. I think that may have something to do with it. At the same time, he doesn't have the BB IQ that someone like Jingles has. I still think he could be a force if he gets his confidence back.

Burks needs to be sent away to live with an aunt on a farm, like my parents did with my dog once.

Burks sucked before he got all the injuries and he is going to suck after. I just dont see him working out.

Burks doesn't seem like the type to get too upset about business ****. I think he just wants to be on the court with his teammates.

Burks just isn't a good defender. He was improving as a 3PT shooter, but his appeal was really built around his "Houdini" shots around the basket. However, I think the injuries have decreased his athleticism. I'd play Hood, Ingles and Mitchell over Burks. Jazz will move on from Alec when they can. Right now his contract is pretty much untradeable.
