Free agent Jonas Jerebko has agreed to a two-year, $8.2M deal with Utah

Jazz playing Moneyball. They're using the money slotted for a Gordon Hayward on veteran depth. . . but not breaking the bank or extending the contracts past two years. Makes it seem like they're planning to build towards a big move in 2019. Plus, depending on how the contracts are structured they could become part of trade packages if needed.

I think we are trading Favors and Diaw. Or we are trying to make some run with all these guys there to spell Favors a ton until the playoffs.

I can see why they went with Thabo to build on our defensive identity, but why Jarebko? I haven't seen him play much but there's a reason why that's the case isn't there?
 
He's an enforcer type, has tools to be a good defender (don't know if he is). He shoots 3 as well as any big man ... 35% career, but 38% since 13-14. Doesn't take too many of them (less than 2 a game), but wouldn't be surprised at all to see that amount in crease.

I think he is a player who can fit in w/ a defensive scheme and survive.

Just exactly what are you expecting at this point? The best FAs are all signed already.
