What's new

Free agent Jonas Jerebko has agreed to a two-year, $8.2M deal with Utah

I am a big fan, from Sweden. One of few (if not the only one). I've been following Jerebko since he came to Detroit. Happy that Utah Jazz will get some attention here in Sweden now. It's already happening.

Awesome! I'm half-Swedish. Mom is from there and my uncle still lives in Linköping (retired from Strålfors).

Thanks for finding that. I felt at the time that Jerebko and Smart were the ones that won that game. I honestly can't believe we were able to sign this guy for about four a year on a two year deal after the series he had against the Cavs. I would have been happy with signing a decent three (which we did in Sefolosha), so signing Jerebko as well on the same day then Udoh is like Christmas in July.

I like Jonas. He is like Matt Harpring with a 3-point shot. Since he was with Detroit, I have thought he was a solid, high energy player. Without the serious injuries he has had, I thought he would be a full-time starter somewhere.

Part of me, though, would rather have Boris Diaw's expiring $7.5m than Ikpe and Jonas for a combined $7.35 per year x 2. Boris solo is better than those two combined for basically the same money.

? What? Did Boris ever even finally make a three point shot last season? I like Boris the man, but I really think it's about time he hung it up. .247 from three is not good. Apparently the FO agrees with me as Boris has been waived. We're a much better team with the new additions IMO.

I can see why they went with Thabo to build on our defensive identity, but why Jarebko? I haven't seen him play much but there's a reason why that's the case isn't there?
He's a goon. Just like an enforcer in hockey. Hustle, effort and attitude off the bench. Plus, he talks a ton of ****. Going to love him and Jingles out there together. He's a bit of a hothead. Maybe a luxury, but I like him.

Yeah he feels to me like when you found a really cool t-shirt on sale 50% off, but you have to get 2 to get the discount. You don't really need that 2nd one but you got it anyway. You'd probably never use it, etc.

Thug, mother****er, goon, whatever you want to call him, he's somebody who seems to like getting under other people's skin. He's not really a goon in the old school sense, where you send him in to commit a hard foul and lay somebody out, but more of a modern goon who goes in to try to piss people off and take them out of their game. Like a Swedish Artest.

That's a great description. I was trying to figure out how to quantify my "goon" designation. He always looks like he's chirping or bumping or pushing somebody around. He's a guy who doesn't back down. . . even when he should.

If this is true what is the over under on Ts that Ingles and Jerebko provoke in opposing players this year?

15? 20? 30?

Not just those two. It will also be Utah's defense. Players hate to be bodied up; they're going to be barking at contact, after steals, etc.

I just hope Utah will get some respect with the refs. Otherwise, the style of play could lead to a parade of free throws for opponents. It was proven by DL that Utah is discriminated against when it comes to foul calls.

Rudy, Thabo and Donovan will likely provoke some techs as well. Damn I miss Booker. He really should be a part of this team.

How freaking refreshing to have dudes on our team who really really want to be there... I think we're gonna like this guy.
