Dante Exum: shoulder injury

The net result is Exum's development is delayed another year, but we keep him on the cheap for another 4 years. From a long term perspective, this isn't a bad thing.

Yeah it is possible that this actually leads to the Jazz keeping him instead of losing him in FA after this year. If Hood plays as well as he has been so far the whole season he's going to command a big deal. If I'm the Jazz I consider trying to aggressively extend Dante now at a lower number. He's still young enough that he can get a big contract at 26/27 if he has developed and stayed injury free. I would have rather had Dante just get a chance this year, though. Really bummed about this news.

I was just reading recent tweets, and I think we need to think positively about this. If they decide on surgery, we probably can't expect Dante back until after the All-Star, and you recall how it was with Alec. He just couldn't get into a rhythm. So, if it's surgery we might as well wait until next year for Dante.

However, if he can rehab without surgery, he could be back much earlier. Of course we can't see the MRIs, but with my distrust of conventional medicine, I would seek out many opinions and see if there are other possible options, even little known. Modern doctors are too quick to do surgery. It should be the last resort and only after thoroughly researching this. We shall see.

You realize that this is going to speed up Mitchell's development. It seems like all the signs point to his destiny as a great player.

Exum was going to explode into a star and get a max contract. Now we will get a huge discount. This is our Steph Curry moment.

Highly doubt Exum is signing a 4 year deal unless we overpay. He is taking the QO.

That was never happening. I don't think Exum was going to get enough to get a team to bite in RFA. There just isnt enough buyers next year. Exum was always going to get the short end of the stick in negotiations. I think him signing the QO is a near guarantee (unless we do something with Rubio by free agency of 2018).

I think this puts both Mitchell and AB in play for PG minutes unless they sign someone like Deron. Feel very bad for Ex but I really want to see Mitch and AB get more minutes.

I want AB and Mitchell to get plenty of minutes, but neither one is a point guard. Especially with Alec who’s been out so long. I don’t want to just get him back and then force him into a spot like that. I want to give Alec a chance to do what he does best.

Him or Neto. Mitchell did not look good at running the point yesterday.

I'm thinking Rubio sees 33 minutes a night, Neto about 12 with Mitchell running it around 3 minutes a game. On average. Sometimes/Often he won't run it at all but maybe there will be games when he runs it a little or looks good running it and gets about 10 minutes of burn there.

I'm so sorry for the guy, it's a shame that he has to go through yet another big setback in his career. All the best to him in his recovery.
