Dante Exum: shoulder injury

I would not be surprised if another team offered Dante a large contract, as it will be the only way to pry him away. I see no positives from this. Hopefully it is less serious than some have speculated.

Normally I would agree but this next offseason the money is much slimmer than usual. Teams with cap space are in a great position, it would be insane for a team to take such a huge risk.

I don't think people understand this. The huge offers to mediocre players are not happening next year. Exum and Hood won't get the max offers because there are only a few teams with space.

Not to mention that if you have cap space the last thing you will want to be doing is sitting a week on it waiting for a team to decide to match an RFA or not

I seriously am dumbfounded at what everyone sees in Dante besides where he was picked and what it took to pick that high.

He's a nice kid and a nice player, but the Jazz's success doesn't live or die by him by any stretch of the imagination.

He was showing signs of fulfilling his potential. I think many were optimistic about this season making the injury a bit of a gut punch. You are right though I think the Jazz will be fine.

I am an Exum believer. While I agree with your second statement, I think he is a type of player you continue to hold on to considering his size, athletic ability and age. I truly believe he can be a difference maker with the ball in his hands and his inefficiency to many is because he is relegated to sitting in the corner and barely touching the ball. I realize his handle and outside shot are concerns, and very large ones.

Maybe about $1 million above the mid-level exception. Not sure if bargain is the right word but it's a fair contract.
Fair? He hasn't even proven to be a league average backup PG and may end up missing over half his games o er the course of his rookie contract.
