Official Marshon Brooks Bandwagon

This guy is a great talent and skilled shooter/scorer. It's obvious by looking at him. He shot 48% from the floor and averaged close to 25 pts. per game as the #1 scoring option for a team in the Big East. That's not inefficient.

#1 option on the 3rd worst team in an overrated Big East as a senior.

maybe take a risk on this guy in the late 20's. obviously out of our range.

He plays exactly like Kobe. I would put money on that he has been studying Kobe's game (Style is similar. NOT comparing players overall). He is very talented. One of the more talented scorers I have seen in this draft. I am not worried about his athleticism as much as everyone else. He is very crafty.

My knock on him is his shot selection. He seems to stagnant the office a bit the way Kobe used to. I actually counted all of his shots (I could be slightly off) but 5 out of the 20 shots were catch and shoot. The rest were him creating the shots.

I think he can be an effective player for any team. I think if he learns to be a role player he will be better off. He doesn't have the athleticism to be a Kobe or Wade or Lebron. He does have the scoring skills though. If he learned from Richard Hamilton's game coming off screens while also having a slashing game. He could be very dangerous. But thats a big IF.

I think there are better wing player available at the 12 position. BUT that could change depending on who is drafted. I would not be upset if the Jazz drafted him. I think our system could change his game but he should come off the bench for 2 years before we reward him.

Straight from a providence fan:

First of all, he scores alot because his team scores alot; put him on a team with a normal tempo and offensive flow and he is a 18-19 point a game scorer. Still good, but he is a ball hog who shoots (admittedly, with a high %) shots that would be more tightly contested in the NBA. He forces alot of stuff, and as a 22 year old, 6'5' guard going against 20 year old, 6'3' defenders, he is getting away with stuff that will never work at the next level. Providence fans have seen this act before with a 22 year old Jamel Thomas in 1998-9.

Why can't he be like James Harden, Marcus Thornton or OJ Mayo? Those are good shooters, good-not-fantastic athletes, and good rotation players. Someone just needs to point out that Marshon Brooks is him.

difference is Brooks has to have the ball to be effective

He could latch on to a bad team, but he's a marginal prospect IMO despite his numbers.

Just watched an interview with Hoopshype that was uploaded yesterday. He was able to stay in 1st person for almost entire interview until a slight slip up till the end. I'm curious to see this 3rd person interview and why the hell he would choose to do so.

I watched the combine today and Marshon Brooks looks like he got out of bed dunking. His arms are so long that he elevates very easy. His outside shot looked great and I think he helped his stock today.

LOL the third person thing is an interesting development. I can't say I'm about that. But I still think he could be real nice for us next year assuming Bell is OUT of the picture.

I'd be ridiculously upset if the Jazz took him 3rd.

As for the 12th pick, there's so many prospects that have their pluses and minuses that I really don't care who they take, for the most part.

I made this thread mostly thinking about the 12. I don't blame anyone for wanting to melt down if we chose him 3rd. I just wouldn't be upset, but I'm an odd duck. Now if we took Jimmer at the 3, I'd probably laugh and re-evaluate my dedication to the Jazz.
