Utah Trade Deadline Discussion

Hoopshype just proposed 3 Ricky Rubio trades.

Scenario 1:
Knicks get Rubio, Jazz get Mirotic, Bulls get Courtney lee and a lottery protected 2018 1st (Utah's pick)

Scenario 2:
Pacers get Rubio, Jazz get Darren Collison and a 31-44 protected 2nd rounder

Scenario 3:
Magic get Rubio and Burks, Jazz get Fournier and DJ Augustin

Thoughts?

How do we know Exum and Johnson wouldn't work? For all we know, Johnson comes in and just plays 20 mpg. We are over thinking it. Johnson is a 21 year old SF/PF with potential.

I like Stanley Johnson's fit over JoeJ, Favors and probably Jerekbo if we are looking at the long run with Mitchell, Gobert, Exum, etc.

According to WOJ (twitter) Detroit is making Avery Bradley available. He is a free agent this summer.

Uh, for 20M a year? No thanks.

According to the article he's been playing hurt which would explain in part his underwhelming play this season. I still like him but not for that kind of money. I would pass

For a minute I thought something around Rodney Hood for Stanley Johnson (plus maybe some protected draft compensation or 2nd round picks) would be interesting - a young wing (DM45's age) who will be affordable moving forward -- but then I looked at StanJohn's stats and MAN is he bad

No on Bradley. Rubio has a higher TS%. Richard Rubio, guys. Also that Chicago/Utah/NY trade makes little sense. The Jazz could just cut NY out all together and get Mirotic for the first if they want. Why just dump Rubio to the knicks essentially for free? I would do scenario 3 in a heartbeat. That would mean you can still trade Hood elsewhere for a pick.

1 is out of the question

2 is tight

3 is unbelievably great and unbelievable.

Supposedly, Detroit has interest in Hood. I think Bradley is the type of guy who fits well next to Mitchell. He's worth a shot to see if he can get us to the playoffs this year.

Hood, Burks, and Thabo
for
Bradley, Johnson and Marjanovic

For Detroit, Hood fits a better "rebuild" timeline than Bradley who hasn't really fit all that well. Burks helps Detroit more now (in their win now mode) than Johnson or Marjanovic. Thabo represents an expiring for Detroit.

For us, Bradley helps us win now and could be an excellent fit here as a compliment to Mitchell. He also fits the "maximizing Gobert's prime" timeline. Johnson might work out better with us. We can try to re-sign Thabo in the summer.

LoPo, your job is to make trades that are ridiculously lopsided for the Jazz, not the other teams.

Bradley is sooo overrated. Also expiring. I'd much rather take Hood into RFA.

You don't think getting Johnson and shedding $4.5 million in 2018-19 (Burks vs Marjanovic) is worth taking a shot at Bradley fitting?

In Boston, Bradley was an amazing player. He was a great compliment to everything. It might just be Stan Van Gundy being a below average coach more than Bradley not being a good player.

I think the issue with Bradley this year is that he's been pretty trigger happy - symptomatic of someone in a contract year on a team with no history with or obligations towards. He's also going to want to be paid at least as much as Hood is this off season

Cleveland could have a ton of interest in Bradley which makes sense - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...dney-hood-nikola-mirotic-linked?share=twitter

Here we go...
Cavs get Bradley (perfect fit, knows how to get the best from IT)
Pistons get Hood and Burks
Jazz get Frye, Stanley Johnson, Cedi Osman and Cleveland's 2018 1st
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y8owz4wy
Pretty fair trade if you ask me.... Cavs get a quality player and save money. Pistons get a guy who becomes a starter and another guy who helps their playoff run this year. We get a couple young guys and a pick we hopefully flip for Mirotic.
