What's new

San Antonio Spurs @ Utah Jazz - Mon. Feb 12th 7pm MST

Yeah we know the answer is 'nothing'.

I don't give a **** about establishing a direct connection between the game and what I'm saying. I was responding to alt13 and Cy.

So you know, you can stop with the dumbass "stick to the topic" nonsense.

I didn't notice that they brought up the hot hand premise. I read that they were talking about certain guys rising to crunch time occassions. But carry on...

He misunderstood my position and I elaborated. Jesus ****ing Christ.

Ah, so it's unfalsifiable, but you totally know it's real. I assume you feel it in your heart?

Have you watched Joe Ingles play?

If you dont believe in the hot hand, then you dont believe confidence has any part in shooting success or failure. It clearly does. If you dont think it does, then you havent played basketball.

Utahjazzz, I said it before and I’ll say it again. I’ll live or die with Donovan every game. He can shoot 25 shots every night, he needs to. Sometimes they go in sometimes they don’t. Donovan should be allowed to make mistakes every night. I believe in the kid 110%, and it’s okay if he goes 1 for 25 in the next game and we lose by 20, I still believe he will be great and is a great teammate who takes his shots when appropriate.

Some of the plays he made was blatantly selfish though. Going 3 vs 1 on fastbreak and hogging the ball only to get fouled? That's not smart.
He is exhausted obviously and will probably make better decisions in similar situations going forward however I hope he's not getting blinded by the hype and trying too hard for ROY.

How he took the game over by himself down the stretch was more important, still we should be careful with our wonderkid's development.

Just stop

Thoughts from the game. . .

1.) Mitchell gets some coffee. Even when he struggles, he has a will to succeed. Kid is a strait up winner.

2.) Rudy putting the team first and leaving Favors in while he was hot was the key to the win. Glad both those guys can fit together and hope to see them as a pair for years to come.

3.) Royce O’Neale has done something awesome in every game for the last 5-6 games. I was a skeptic at first, but I have full confidence in him as our 6th man going forward. That defense at the end? Wow.

4.) The impact Ricky Rubio has can’t be overstated. He has been great on both ends of the court. Hopefully they can get the win against Phoenix on Wednesday without him and he can just rest and rehab through the All Star break.

5.) Jazz have developed the mental toughness to get the job done. They were clearly tired and off through the first 3 quarters, but locked it down at the end and took the game away from the Spurs. This is exactly the type of effort they need to get to (and be successful) in the postseason.

6.) Jae Crowder is a perfect fit for this team. I’m glad that the players and fans have made him feel welcome. He’s going to be a crucial guy in the playoffs for the Jazz.

I think today was our best win of the year. We were off, tired, on a b2b, refs were garbage and Spurs are great in that situation (regardless of personnel).

We just decided we werent going to lose and dug really deep to get that win, we come up with play after play.
Eh, agree to disagree.
For me beating an all time great team by 30 impresses me more than beating a team full of no names by 2 every time regardless.

I’m not sure who you’re talking about. I’ve already got most of the trolls on ignore. It has really improved my Jazzfanz experience through this up and down (and back up) season.
I have 4 on ignore. I think it's time to add this utahjazz guy to my list

This is a good point.
When I played and "my hand got hot" my confidence went up which imo helps my shot.
When I'm not feeling confident and I'm hesitant to shoot I shoot worse. And vice versa

When the fans were chanting mvp, mitchell promptly missed his free throw.

I was happy to see that the fans didn't do the chant when mitchell went to the line the next time.

But ya, flip a coin a million times, and sometimes you'll hit heads 8 times in a row, and you'd think you're totally feeling it. The coin feels lighter, and your fingers feel snappier. But it's an illusion.

Basketball shooting is obviously more complicated. Sometimes you'll face good defense that shuts you down, other times you'll face the Sun's and score 40. Sometimes you'll feel sick and without energy. Other times you feel great.

But with a large enough sample, things even out. And looking at those numbers, there is no evidence that hitting any number of shots in a row increases your percentage on the next shot/s.
Professionals shooting a basketball is not the same as a "fair coin" toss. Let's not forget the fundamental rules of probability.
