Following Potential 2018 Draftees

Comparing Royce to Hayward huh Cy? Grasp at some more straws. Pretty sad an undrafted rookie averaged what your golden boy did considering it took Royce half the year to carve out a role unlike the lottery pick "good NBA player as a rookie."

Wrong again troll boy

Man, you are really upset I blocked you from dm'ing me.

I'm more impressed with the Okobo footage they posted and the production. He looks like he might have a decent wingspan... anyone seen a reliable measurement. I think Okobo has a higher ceiling and floor than Simons and that Simons is riding mystery hype.
I've read it's 6'8" but not sure where it was measured. Probably at some of the Euro camps. Okobo is definitely ahead of Simons on my board. Okobo will be top 10 for me. I think I will have him ahead of Trae Young.

Vert is actually one of the better indicators, in the NFL too. I remember reading something years ago that said that and had thresholds posted I think for bigs it was 32"+
How long have they done the athletic testing and has there been any analytical breakdown of the prospects over time for any indicators?

Alright good. I have a full shower Okoboner.

Okobo's wingspan is at a minimum 6'7". If he ends up the pick there's gonna be some nice bump material from last years thread from yours truly.

The first full game I saw of Okobo's last szn he hit a buzzer beater from 3 off the dribble to win it, i was thoroughly entertained.

Some people compare him to Dennis Schroeder for some reason. I think he looks a lot better than Schoeder during pre-draft.

No, as I pointed out here way ahead of time Schroder shouldve been a lotto pick, ****, lets be real - he shouldve been the jazz lotto pick....

I wouldnt take him over Simons either.

Paul Pierce could finish at the rim. He could dunk. This guy doesn't show anything like that. And these are in his highlights vs. college kids. Maybe he'll develop more than I think, perhaps even grow another half inch or so, I don't know. But I personally don't want him.
I've seen Troy Brown throw down some nice dunks. Ultimately he's redundant with Exum tho, wont be the pick.
Okogie has a big it factor vibe to him. What's his knock? Defensive effort?
Short and played at Georgia Tech for a coach many use as a punchline in Josh Pastner. I've been trying to hype him here as better than Grayson Allen for some time, a notion many laugh at in ACC circles but is seeming more and more likely.

This is late but worth mentioning Kris Wilkes and Jaylen Hands return to UCLA. The SF depth was hurt most by these recent withdrawals

This the kind of stuff I'm talking about when I say Troy Brown looks more explosive than his testing indicates.

This isnt some amazing dunk, but he gets off the floor relatively easily off one foot and has huge hands that let him really extend the ball.

Troy Brown looks like he's going to get by people by bullying them a bit, driving through contact and using his length, like in the first 3 plays in these highlights. Big guards can sometimes get away with that. Paul Pierce used to do that a lot.

I'm definitely starting to get enamored with him. He turns 19 in July (he is younger than Afernee Simons who looks like a baby where Brown already has a man body), so he is one of the younger players in the draft. He's already pretty strong for a player his age and size. He fits the mold perfectly of what you want a 3 to be size wise. You can easily project his frame to be able to guard up a position to the 4 once he matures with his length and reach (and again, he doesnt turn 19 for another 1.5 months, he could still be growing). His ball-handling, passing, and vision are very high level for a player his size/age. Play style wise he is a perfect fit for the Jazz's system.

The very first play of this highlight reel looks like a right-handed version of a Joe Ingles scoop layup. I see a lot of Ingles when he plays. Like I wish Ingles could play this aggressively w/ a scorer's mentality(Joe Johnson might be a more apt comparison as he develops). Obviously his shot is nowhere close to Ingles, but Ingles wasnt lighting it up at age 19. He shot 32% his first professional year for the Melbourne team. I don't think his lack of shooting should be too much of a concern.

His athleticism on the defensive end probably is the biggest concern. I watched all the Cody Wright youtube videos on him and it's a mixed bag defensively. Sometimes he does get blown by, but other times he is really able to use his size and length to both players on the defensive end.

If he falls to 21, he might be a must-pick. It's rare to get a player like him at 21 who has his level of feel/IQ combined with size and age at the SF position. Honestly, if he falls past the Spurs, I would be shocked. He seems like a Spurs player through and through. I'm pretty surprised he is even working out with the Jazz.

I feel like I rarely agree with Catchall on anything draft related, but I'm in on Brown. He might just be a super role-player type, but if he figures out his shot he could be a good starter and eventual Joe Ingles replacement.

Brown is smooth and very skilled(especially for his size). This is what draws me towards him, but I worry about the shot and lack of athleticism.

This is basically one on none so it's not something that tells me he can do it in a real game.

He also didn't use huge hands to extend the ball at all. He sort of cupped it, tucked away within his hand and yet also lodged up against his wrist.

Cy - You didn't block me at
all. I really wish you would grow up and spend time on the Jazz instead of taking personal shots at me and my every post.

Back to what we should be talking about. Lets Go Jazz.

Donte D at #21 and find a way to trade up to the early 2nd to get Okobo or Okobie.

Whoever we draft, its becoming obvious that the player must be able to switch onto almost anybody. If you can't guard everybody, you cant stay on the floor. This is becoming essential for players who want to be a factor come playoff time.

I think you put premiums on that stuff but can’t overreact to the finals or conference finals trends... otherwise you might not draft anybody... like I don’t think Doncic is gonna do wonderful switching onto harden or LBJ in his first year but I would still want him.

I don’t think you want anyone that is a non shooter and you don’t want anyone that is so bad on defense that they get headhunted.
