*Breaking News* Kawhi Wants Out

I hate the NBA and super teams. Time for a lockout and demand a real salary cap. No max salaries and franchise tags. NBA players either agree or they can go play overseas. It has to happen or small market teams will never win a title ever again.

So the Spurs are making Pau Gasol available. What about:

Memphis gets Gasol, Jerekbo, #21, #52 and our 2019 1st (they bring the Gasol brothers together and get 2 1sts)

Spurs get Burks, Udoh, and #32 (they save money and get a decent draft pick from Memphis)

We get Parsons, #4 and a future SA 2nd (per NBA rules every team has to receive something and send something to every team in a multi team trade)

Memphis is going to turn #4 into two late firsts and Gasol. And getting on Parsons. If it was a different player than Pau that might make sense.

Memphis wants to win now, desperately wants to dump Parsons, and they don't have a 1st next year.

More importantly, who else has the expirings/cap space and would take Parsons AND has a draft pick as high as #21? The answer is very, very few.

Memphis will get better for 4. I do this for Utah though.

If Boston and Ainge want KL they will have to give up Kyrie or Hayward plus picks. And it frankly makes more sense for them and from a trade standpoint than anything else I have heard - which obviously doesn't mean it will happen. Having those Kyrie and Gordie is great but Boston learned this year that both of those guys are dispensable and KL more than makes up for giving one of them up. Pairing LeBron or KL with that young group and the picks they will have left would put Boston in the most enviable position in the league if the chips fall right.

I just refuse to believe that Boston would trade Hayward.

As for Kyrie, I would rather have Brown and the two 1sts for next year (Sac and Memphis). Kyrie can walk next summer and the guy is injury prone.

Boston angled for Hayward for years using his college coach as the primary recruiter. They aren't going to trade Hayward.

And if you're SA, do you really think you can build a contender around rehabbing Gordon Hayward? I would rather get Brown, trade Gasol, stockpile some picks and rebuild.

I think the second point is more accurate honestly. There's a chance (albeit small probably) that Hayward doesn't return to his former self. San Antonio would rather some young talent and picks to build around while still giving Pops some ammo to work with. Boston can facilitate that better than any other team and, if they believed they could entice Leonard to sign an extension, then they would do that. Absolutely no question.

That said, keep in mind the Clippers pitch to Blake was all about legacy and love. He signed that deal, and they traded him half a year later. So if Ainge, who is notorious for being ruthless, felt he could make Boston a champion again by dealing Hayward, you bet your buns he would do it. To be frank, Lindsey, Buford, or any other GM worth their salt would as well.
