Lakers at Jazz Game Thread

I'll admit that Mitchell is making me eat crow regarding his ability to play point. I'm not convinced he should be PG full time as I still think he's better as a SG who can secondary playmake for the team, but I think Mitchell closing games at PG and putting another shooter beside him might be a good idea come playoffs.

I mean, that's kind of the idea with Korver, no?

For most guys that’s kinda how it works... I don’t want him going full Westbrook or having all the responsibility but the thought he needs a traditional pg next to him as his main backcourt partner is moronic.
I think he plays better as a point guard and the team does too. ****, make him a point guard if that's the case.

And that works out pretty well for the Jazz. Absolutely need someone else doing the heavy lifting for a greater portion of the game so Mitchell can do what he does in the fourth.
It works out cause he and the team play better when he is point guard. Maybe we should do it more often and it might work then as well. Worth a try.

Right, but I've spoken in other threads about how the Exum/3shooter/Favs lineup was originally ran by Mitchell when the Jazz first got Korver and it was bad because Mitchell tunnel visioned every time he got in the PnR and looked for his own shot instead of others.

If he's willing to let the offense come to him and is looking for his teammates more like he has been in January then I think Korver in for Rubio to close games - particularly when Rubio is having bad shooting nights - that would be something I would like to see when closing close games.

Edit: Rubio has fantastic clutch stats though so it's a tough call

Honestly the biggest positive of Korver has just been an offensive option to go to with the 2nd unit. No longer does the 2nd unit have to rely on creating a shot by running a good offensive set, they can just run Korver off pretty basic and easily manufactured motion.

No, Westbrook is an absolute athletic freak, and Mitchell should not try to do what Westbrook does. Jazz need a ballhandler for most of the game who is NOT Mitchell to keep Mitchell fresh and focused in the fourth. I would rather he play D than get all the usage on Offense.
