With a super duper star and he was targeted by the offense a ton. He had value and made a really key stop but he got there because he rode the GOAT.

Discussion was about trading for Tobias. I had no idea the package proposed. For as much as people love Tobias here, I assumed a bigger package than Faves and a 1st would have been the starting point.

I like the idea of trading for a stretch 4 and keeping Favors as a back up center if possible. We would then most likely have to trade either Rubio or Exum and I'd think Exum would be more valuable. A trade like Exum/Sefalosha/Draft picks?? for Tobias Harris would be perfect IMO. The $$ is basically even and it would definitely improve the Jazz.

Favors would ask to be traded because he would only be playing 13 minutes a game at that point.

They may not be convinced they can make the playoffs and may have their sights set higher. Favs at his team option may be a decent consolation prize if FA doesn’t work out for them. Plus the first.

The value to THEM is much much higher than that. I definitely think their sights are set higher, but having a player like Tobias rights and history in case their FA pitches don't work is extremely valuable to them, regardless of how they view the season. Much more than a late 1st.

I agree somewhat, but it’s kind of arrogant to assume a guy that will get max offers from others the moment free agency opens is gonna wait for you to pitch KD and Kawhi... although they may have given up on getting two guys... it’s not realistic imo... but they were/maybe still are deadass serious.

La is nice but Tobias will get 4 max offers as long as he’s healthy. Potentially better markets and basketball situations... Dallas, Sacramento, Brooklyn, Utah, all could pony up an offer... we know KD and Kawhi will take at least a day or two... Harris gonna hope Clips miss and settle on him? What’s his incentive to wait on them?

I’d start some rumors that they have their sights set elsewhere and are shopping him ahead of the deadline... even if it ain’t true let’s plant some seeds of doubt.

I don't think they assume that. Which is more the reason they'd have to be more than swayed with a deal to move on. I think they would definitely try to get through the back channels to make their pitches, well before FA starts as we have seen many do. Probably are doing it now, there was that report that there has been a Clipper official at every Raptor game Kawhi has played this season.

I don't really agree about better "basketball situations". He is having a career year and is living in LA. Also we all know he can get a larger and longer offer from the home squad, so there's that incentive for him, other than wanting to be there of course.

I just don't see the reasoning from their end. This isn't the PG situation in which he told them straight up he is leaving. You've got to get some real good pieces, which as you've brought up, is hard with somebody hitting UFA.

It’s a legit question. He is having a great year and likely doesn’t make the all star team and likely misses the playoffs... clips are irrelevant. LA makes up for some of that but the season doesn’t last 12 months and they can go wherever. PG is from LA and don’t want to even meet with the Lakers who with him and Lebron would be better than the thunder are.

Winning matters, timing matters, if they are serious and have some assurances they are getting dudes I could see them making moves. I think Kawhi ends up with them... but even assurances from his team would be tough to trust cuz he’s a weirdo.

This is simple - if Tobias shows any sign that he might walk this summer, he doesn't have that much value to LA. If Tobias shows interest in Utah again (he already has once) then other teams might not bid against us for fear he might just go to us in the summer.

Favors and a 1st is damn good value for a guy who leaves in a few months. If anything, the question will be about us not just waiting instead of making the trade.

Um 100% they would want Tobias.... wouldn't we? We can't have it both ways. He's valuable to us, but not to them? Valuable plays are valuable regardless.

I think we are in agreement. They would move Tobias if they had a guarantee from another player. But they wouldn't move him for a middling package. Which is why if they moved Tobias I would be very concerned if I were Toronto, Golden State, Philadelphia, etc.
