Gamethread: Game 1 of the 1st Round. Utah Jazz @ Houston Rockets. 7:30 MST

I was at the game and will be going to game 2 on Wednesday. was ugly as hell with sh!tty defense on harden, poor defensive rotations, and terrible guard/wing play. rubio can't shoot for **** and despite his points/assists statline it was easy for Houston to play 4 on 5 when the jazz were on offense with him in the game. i hate to say it, but dante was clearly missed; raul can't be played in this series as he is too damn small/unathletic. they keyed in on donovan and he had very little space to operate. team just doesn't have enough athletes/creators. the second best athlete on the team is a rookie who is still very green, but i think as the series moves forward, grayson has to be played to take some pressure off of don. jae, joe, royce, thabo, and kyle all played like dogsh!t. rudy still complains too much and doesn't run back on defense when he's whining to the refs.
I'm sorry you paid and had to see that garbage.

So what's your take Nostradamus? Jazz in 5? Look at this game and the other games we've played Houston this year. Look at the trades and signings we've had during Lindsay's tenure as GM. That is called evidence. We just got blown out by 32 points and didn't look competitive all game long. It's not pessimism, it's seeing what is right in front of you. No one said you couldn't continue to hope for the best. I'd love for the Jazz to make me eat crow on this one.

We did beat the Rockets twice during the regular season you know, once without Rudy.

It's not Hood or Burks. It's telling Millsap to take a hike so Lindsey can do a half-*** rebuild. He had ONE top-5 pick. If you're going to do a rebuild, do it proper. Get multiple high picks, you know, in case you happen to waste 5 first round picks on PG's and STILL don't have a decent one.

It's keeping payroll at the bottom of the league, while spouting nonsense about financial flexibility YEAR AFTER YEAR. And then bringing in JJ and Fat Boris in a futile attempt to placate your star player. Based on Lindsey's failure to date, Hayward would have been foolish to stay. Ainge had shown he was willing to spend money to build a team. Dennis never did. Even this summer, what did Lindsey do with the MLE? Again, refused to spend it. Plenty of players signed 1 year deals.

How many teams have been able to make trades because they had a pipeline of solid, young players? Dennis has Rudy and Donovan. And maybe Joe would have decent value (like a late 1st to a contender). Beyond that...nada. Lindsey brings in jetsam and flotsam. But he's a master hypnotist. Who else could fool so many of you that the Jazz have this wonderful development program? Jazz can make all-stars out of scrubs. They have the formula that no other team in the league has.

But wait, he'll certainly make a move once the GS dynasty has run it's course. Or is that after Houston no longer has Harden and CP3. I know...it's after Giannis retires, Maybe THEN the 3rd rebuild will be complete and Lindsey will decide Utah can spend money to build a better team.

Good thing I’m not arguing for a third rebuild under DL.

But sure, let’s make more unsubstantiated arguments.

It’s now or never. What part of that did you not understand?

Rigby brought them to Utah. Lindsey was a part of it yes. He obviously works with the president of the Jazz on it. I'll give you props

Nateboz is notoriously slow. Don't hold it against him, Stoked.

And I you.

Yes I’m a homer. Won “crazy *** Jazz fan” on here for like 3 seasons straight. Granted

We good?

I am glad Utah is consistent and not ready to blow it all up and turn the franchise into Sacramento or Phoenix.

In 2-3 years tho when Utah has nothing to show for whats gone on this decade and those teams are LOADED with young talent and momentum, u might not think that anymore... and it might not take 2-3 years, both of those teams are primed to make significant steps this offseason.

There was always some but I could ignore it without noticing it. Now it's like every loss I see it. Oh well, I'm going to bed.
I get it man. We're all mad and venting. Everyone let's gather around for a group hug and make amends...except for pgabgilles, **** that loser.

We can agree on that. Time for Lindsey to put up or gtfo. At least he won't be able to sell us on just running it back.

The Jazz when u look at them in a vacuum and u sorta do this balance sheet style breakdown of the assets, it seems decent. but when u start comparing what they've got to everyone else, thats where the foolishness of lindsey and lack of vision is revealed and will ultimately be his downfall and why the word is going to be WASTE.

cuz the question really is;

HOW competitive is this??? I'd say not much at all... they are PRETENDERS... Jazz operate like they trying to win the battle of the pretenders every season this decade, it's shameful, self-defeating, they have achieved nba purgatory this is what that feels like, long *** build up for a big quick and violent drop off, then rinse and repeat.

In the era of lottery odds most easily manipulated, the JAzz took the highground, stuck their noses in the air, and aimed for 50-win seasons and elected to go speeding into basically redlights being the monsters of the west.

I read the art of war all the time, everyday even. this **** is not ****ing smart tactics, no ****in way. this is how chumps maneuver. They pick fights on ground they are unfit to win...
