News, rumors and buzz around the draft and free agency

So several teams now are in pursuit of Jimmy Butler, including Miami, LA Clippers, Houston and Philly.
1. Miami: Even though he supposedly wants to go to Miami, I don't see them being able to clear salary. Is anyone going to trade for Hassan ($25M) or James Johnson ($14.6M)? Dragic picked up his option at $19M; he's overpaid. I think Ryan Anderson is a TO. He has to be gone. But that doesn't clear up enough space. Miami is out.
2. Houston: I guess Philly has to decide if a S&T is better than losing him for nothing...if he's set on leaving. I'd probably take Gordon and Capela for him.
3. LA Clippers: makes the most sense
4. Philly: he stays if they outbid everyone else. But why would they? Team chemistry was reportedly terrible. No surprise there after he whined his way out of Minnesota. I'd love to see him try to share the ball with Harden. I'd definitley grab some popcorn for that show.

I really hope the jazz are working on a trade with Rubio to stay above the cap. If other teams front offices are willing to help the friggin Lakers, I’d hope they’d help the Jazz.

Third string garbage minute guard. MAYBE.

Actually backup guard? HELL NO.

We need a guard who can consistently play for more than 30 min and score in double figures easily when being called upon. Examples are Shabazz Napier, Seth Curry, etc. We can't even play Neto for more than 20 min of NBA basketball without having him OUT for the next few games.

You realize what a BACKUP guard is right? No, we don't need him to play 30 minutes a game...ever.

Would you try to get Kemba after having acquired Conley?
No, but at Ingles' salary and his age, he probably would accept coming off the bench. He played way too many minutes last year and wore down as the season progressed after lighting things up his first several games. You could still play him 25-30 mins as the 3rd wing.

This would give us a bigger exception to work with correct?

As the 3rd-string PG, he's ok, except when he's hurt, which is often. He's just not good enough to be the primary backup. He's a good guy, someone you keep at the minimum, but nothing more.

That's completely different. Ingles and Bogdanovic would play very well together. You could start one of them at the 4 or bring Ingles off the bench to run the second unit. They're both versatile players capable of playing multiple positions and basketball is becoming more and more positionless anyway. Im 100% positive the Jazz would keep Joe if they get Bogdanovic and both will play huge roles next year. Favors is the one we would let go in order to get Bogdanovic.

So Bojan evidently has a 8'8" standing reach (that's bigger than Paschall fwiw) and 6'11" wingspan (bigger than Samanic or Windler) and registered a 36 inch vert years ago.

I'm not sure how he feels about playing the 4, if he's even ever done so and if so how he held up, but he might be able to play some 4. He has had a TS% over 60% each of the last three years, is 38.9% from 3 for his career, shoots 80%+ from the line, can rebound, pass, dribble. If we can get him, I still want a 4 like Jamychael Green. Somehow. Adding these two (along with Conley) would improve our shooting and spreading of the floor infinitely from last year's roster and also improve our lineup flexibility. Bring back Sef on the vet minimum too.

Yeah, and "being unavailable when your starting PG goes down" definitely isn't part of it. And cut the BS about us never needing him to play 30min. Grayson Allen, who hasnt played well in his rookie season, played 40+min for us in his last game against Clippers, and Mr. Neto was AGAIN inactive for that game.

It’s called a waste of roster spot. If the organization really loves him, just put him side by side next to Raul Lopez, right now.

Not to mention the stretch of games Donovan had to be the starting PG. Ideally you'd want a backup to be able to step in with just a little downgrade from a starter like Rubio. Neto was injured - yet again - IINM.

I think Bojan could even fit in well when Conley sits. You have Mitchell slide over to PG and play Bojan and Joe at the wings.

A point guards job is not always to score. They have to actually, ya know, run an offense. Neto is a solid backup, dude just can't stay healthy. Seth Curry isn't even a PG for Pete's sake.

Rudy loves him, which is why the organization may offer him at the vet minimum. Who cares who fills the 15th roster spot? If he leaves, Dennis can tell Rudy it was Raul's choice, not his.
