Cheap Roster Moves Jazz Should Make

Regardless of what the Jazz do with the main parts of their roster, they won't have any money to sign anyone of note. They will have to make smart moves to identify dudes who teams arent high on, but can make an impact for the Jazz.
*Some of these things might be unrealistic, I'm bad at cap stuff and knowing what we can do exactly*

The moves should be the following:

1. Sign Yuta Watanabe.
  • Dude is 6'8 and can move laterally. His offense may not be very good, but he can shoot. There's potential there for him to be a solid end of rotation player. He's a dude who could really elevate the Jazz's ability to guard on the perimeter with his length.
2. Sign Delon Wright
  • This is probably not realistic. I dont know if we have MLE money, but if we do, this is the exact player I want. Obviously has Utah ties so he'd be a fan favorite. He could play with Donovan. He could play with Conley. He could start when needed. Just overall solid player with good size. He only averaged 4.4 ppg this past season, so I think teams may not really be psyched about him, but I would 100% be.
3. Sign Andre Drummond
  • Can Utah did with Hassan Whiteside to Andre Drummond? Honestly I watched 0 Drummond minutes last year, so this is just kind of YOLO based off his talent level and that he can probably be had on a 1 year vet minimum

That's all I got for now. Does anyone else have any on the margin moves they want Utah to make (this is assuming Utah is trying to compete with Rudy and Donovan on the roster)

1. We need size and if Yuta's cheap, why not? It's a good idea which probably means we won't do it. I'd be getting him strictly for his plus defense and not asking him to hoist shots.
2. I'd prefer to go younger than Wright - at 30, I'm not really sure he'd offer more than many street FA's
3. I'm a no to Drummond. Even with our bigs, I think we need more shooting and Drummond simply doesn't let us stretch the floor. I don't think he's abysmal, but playing him in the postseason presents big issues with small-ball lineups which is something we're all too familiar with.

Wright is a guy I've wanted for a while. He won't be a minimum guy and Ryan complicated his tax situation saving a few sheckles on the tax by sending out Joe. If he is a minimum guy I'd sign him in a second.

Yuta... yes... go get him.

Drummond is fine... whatevs.

Mo Wagner in Orlando had a good year and I really think we should try to find a cheap shooting big. He isn't a defender but is good at taking charges... so he's not a zero there. If its a minimum contract I think Orlando keeps him to make Franz happy.

Jaylen Nowell is not a FA... but he is on a minimum deal... not sure how we get him from the Wolves but he was highly productive and is young. Kind of a diamond in the rough maybe. Not sure he is in the Wolves future plans but we also don't have some minor assets to trade for him. Like if I was going to declare my Alec Caruso (or Shaq Harrison) offseason target who I think could be awesome and hiding in plain sight... I think it would be Nowell. He's not a defender but I think he could be a JC replacement.

Jaylen Hoard really crushed it in OKC is it just a garbage time all-star for a few games or something real. He's a 4/5 combo that I would go get. They have a roster crunch and I think Roby, Hoard, and Theo all end up hitting the road. They also have Muscala who I'd love to get... Williams is still intriguing but we currently can't offer them what they want.

I doubt Detroit picks up Diallo's option and he might be a minimum guy. Energetic as hell but still can't shoot... at least would dunk cool and play hard.

Oh yes, to Roby please.

I dont think OKC would just want to trade him though. What can we give them that they actually want? It's not like Roby is worth a 1st rounder, and OKC doesnt really have use for more 2nd rounders. I just dont see how it would happen.

They have a monster roster crunch. I actually think you could get him for cash considerations or a 2028 second. Currently they have 3 firsts plus their own second this year which is #34. Say they consolidate one of those picks or do a draft and stash... they are bringing on 2-3 rookies on the low end... up to 4. They have 15 guys with contracts currently. They cut 2-3 of Vit, Ty Jerome, Theo, or Roby. Maybe they finally do a 2 or 3 for one trade with Williams, Muscala. Favs won't be cut until after the trade deadline... maybe he is moved and they waive the incoming player.

I think there is a chance Roby doesn't get picked up as they might prefer Hoard and they have a few incoming prospects.

While I dont share your optimism (Roby was like their 2nd best player post-all star break), I hope you are right.

He was actually much better than I realized. I think I checked mid year when he was in and out of the rotation. So I think you are likely right. My guess is they cut Jerome, Theo, and Vit. I don't think Roby would be super hard to get... and if they want to keep him I'd go get Hoard instead.

I don't think Roby is the prospect they are most committed to giving time I guess.. I think Bazley, Poku, JRE are higher on the forward pecking order...

That's possible. They do have a ton of those 4/3 types, but I dont see them being in any hurry to out any of them.

They will probably play lineups with all those dudes in them actually. Not like they are going to try and win this year.

Maybe if they draft a Banchero then they look to move Roby because you really have to play Banchero those minutes.

Roby might also become more available if they draft Banchero or Smith... they don't have time for all those guys so might find better use for the spot.

I don't think they have interest in NAW but who knows... might be able to do a Muscala/Roby/Cash Considerations 2025 2nd type of deal that helps them clear the roster a bit.

You want to give up on NAW so soon?

Lmao, "Hey Shai I know living in Oklahoma is awful and we are actively wasting a lot of your best years by being a trash team, but hey, here is your cousin to play with"

I'd give up NAW for any of those guys.

Right but I think they like to have open roster spots to churn in prospects as well... so I think he may be a guy that can be had with cash or a second and some cash. Presti has all teh picks but he still wants more. After the draft we can send out a 2029 second I believe and he needs to start his collection for that year.

Give up implies I ever believed. He was salary filler that was sold as a prospect.
Lmao at "giving up" on a dude who was having one of the worst seasons in NBA history. Look at how much New Orleans turned their season around when they traded him.

UtahJazz32 a national treasure of stupidity.

I mean the Jazz also confused a lot of Jazz blog boys with how they sold the trade... so they did a great job convincing everyone that NAW was someone they wanted and not someone they were forced to take.
